Forget about Wilcox, Singleton...get me that Gooden guy!
"He’s restricted, and given that the free agent class is so weak at the four spot (Nene, Wilcox, Ely, all restricted), he might get that five or six mil. We’re hearing Gooden is available right now, and that the Nets have made inquiries, but the only possible swap to be made to match his $4 million salary would be Marc Jackson and a No. 1. At this point, the Nets have yet to make such an offer, but it’s probably something they’d consider. No idea whether the Cavs would bite, though." Newark Star-Ledger

It's not a bad move. As much as people want to mock his attitude, entourage or basketball IQ, the guy will get your double digits in points, and is a solid rebounder.
Can't imagine Kidd, Carter, Jefferson banging with bigs for boards and boxing out is going to help with their physical conditions later in the year and playoffs.
Also another offensive weapon would had been usefull the last 2 games.

exactly what i was thinking, he's unproven so if we do trade for him we'd get a potential double double guy who we have a shot at resigning. he'd be a pretty good long term shareef replacement. lets hope the rumors about gooden being in mike brown's doghouse is true.

I would like to rep you but your too powerful already
This part about those guys under the boards has to be particulary true for RJ and VC. Kidd is just a thief the way he steals boards but the other two have to do it the hard way. Our draft pick most certainly wouldn't be that high if he comes here. One malcontent for another keeps the team from being too drawn towards the darkside.

The Nets need help in alot of areas. Gooden is far more well rounded than Evans and has been hitting the glass equally as hard this year. He splits time with Marshall and he still pulls down around 10 plus on a nightly basis. He's no defensive stopper but this is the kind of player we need over someone like Evans or Olowakandi who we'd get solely for one dimensional reasons. Both of whom, will assuredly ask for a sizeable pay raise that neither of them really deserve while Gooden seems to be the kind of guy you work out a nice team friendly deal with like funkylikemonkey said.
