Never Ending Debate: VC vs RJ vs Kidd
It saddens me to see that certain fans here seemingly try to create competition among its players. On one side, there are fans who argue that their favorite player is the best and that the team will not win without it. On another side, another group of fans say otherwise. They acknowledge that player's talent, but duly give credit to other players in the team as well. Personally, my belief is that basketball is a team sport. You may have a great and spectacular player, but without much support from other players around him, his team will generally never make it big and win a championship. He may win all the scoring titles, garner all the spectacular plays, his team may win several games... but in the end, his team in all likelihood will not win the championship unless other players step up.
And unfortunately, this Nets team right now is constructed that it thrives best when all 3 of its stars are healthy and well. Up to a certain degree, that is good, as was shown by the streak we had. When all 3 are well, when all cylinders are firing, then the team wins. Having 3 spectacular players is a blessing up to a certain extent. All 3 players are equally important. They compliment each other's play and can make up for each other's weakness.
However, when one goes down, it has been shown that the whole thing collapses. The team cannot seem to function well and it ends up losing. It may occasionally be competitive and win games, but since most of the team's play is focused on the 3 players, when one falls, the whole thing seems to fall, unfortunately.
Most of us have our favorite players in this team. I'll be honest that Kidd has been my favorite player ever since. But I recognize his flaws and mistakes. I further realized that I was a Nets fan and not simply a Kidd fan after he got his latest triple double. I should have been happy as that was another milestone for him. But in fact, I was sad as the Nets lost. And that was the most important thing.
I hope we all realize that no matter how great our favorite players are, they cannot win the championship by themselves. They need other players around them to play well to give this team a fighting chance. Lets try to be more honest and realistic that our favorites are not perfect. When people come up and say "constructive criticisms" against them, there is no need to blatantly attack that poster and his favorite player. Debates are fun only when they are kept on an intellectual level.
We cannot change everyone's perception and beliefs. But to incessantly argue against someone and continuously drive your point is useless. When someone who is not open to others' opinion and point of view tries to instigate an argument incessantly , I just try to remember the 11th commandment. "Thou shall not go down the level of the imbecile whose mental acumen is below par." It is useless.
The Nets team is far from perfect. But it is fortunate to have 3 very good players as its core. Other teams would love to have just one of these 3.. and the Nets has all 3 of them. There is no need to pit one against the other.

And by the way, there is no need for the VC > RJ, or RJ >VC etc etc..
Healthy VC + Healthy RJ + Healthy Kidd = greater chance of winning. Lets stick to that. NO need for the > or < sign.

Even with the big 3 healthy & happy, Nets need a healthy Jason Collins to get to the Conference Finals.
