Re: Theres no reason for Nick Collison not to be available

I have been saying this for the past 2 seasons, but Nick Collison is everything the Nets need at PF. A role player who, in time, should become a nightly double double w/ solid D and passing. However, I see no reason to believe that he is available. Just beacuse Bob Hill isn't playing him right now doesn't mean that Wally Walker, Rick Sund, and management as a whole aren't absolutely in love w/ him. They are. They've said so repeatedly. As Mr.Montross said, the Sonics are looking at losing the Radman and Evans for nothing this offseason. Why would they trade the guy who last year (as a rookie) was their most dependable crunch time big? He's having a bit of a sophmore slump, mostly wrt/ fouls, but so what? The whole team is slumping. Collison goes no where. He is the future starting PF for the Sonics. And the future might not be that far away. As have all of his previous coaches, Bob Hill is becoming disenchanted w/ the Radman. Not only is he flawed as a player (too in love w/ the 3, not a consistent defender), but he is redundant on the Sonics as long as Rashard is on the team. They are very similar players, and Rashard is better/more consistent in just about every area. In his quest to be a starter and make big money next season, the Radman is going to end up coming off the bench at a reduced rate for some other team.

I don't think you realise how difficult it is to average a double-double over the course of the season unless a player averages a great amount of minutes. Collison is a good rebounder, but he's not that good.

Yes, I realize how difficult it is, and yes I think he will be capable of it when he gets starters minutes. He was a great rebounder for them last season, and he was an otherworldly rebounder in college. One of the best I have ever seen. A true vacuum cleaner. Collison is the real deal. Some foul troubles when he's surrounded by awful defenders and a new coach w/ a new rotation reducing his minutes don't change that, IMO.

Eh, SeaNet has a much more positive outlook non Collison than I do. I see Petro as the Sonics future PF. I see Nick as expendable.
