I don't really get these articles. Big Dave's article yesterday said the lux tax is at 61.7 million, but after the trade we're still over the tax threshold. Today Iazzonne says we can save up to 7 million on tax and salary combined this year because of the trade. Even Thorn says we are under the tax, but going by Big Dave's article yesterday that said 61.7 we are not under. If Thorn says we're under, than Big Dave must be wrong.

I think the Nets must be under Ratners orders not to go over the luxury tax threshhold and thus since they wanted to sign Thomas, they had to do something...not that losing Jackson and Johnson is a big issue, at least for now.

Remember, the Nets dumped Ron Mercer under the amnesty clause to save $1.76 million. That amnesty only applied to luxury taxes.

Nets have increased their revenues by 25% this year, according to Yormark, but they carry the biggest debt load BY FAR in the league.

I believe that debt was the financing of the purchase price from when Ratner bought the team.

Right, that's why the great folks in Jersey came to all the games right? Gimme a break, you people never supported this team, the nets have had some of the lowest attendance rates even when they were in the finals. Jersey doesn't deserve the nets and especially newark. Newark is one of the most ghetto cities I've seen on the east coast. New York is where the nets should be, people will actually come to see them.

What a retarded post. Not only does New Jersey never sell out the arena, but 1/3rd of the people that do come are from Ny like me. Be angry at all the little knick fan punks who grew up in new jersey as wanna be new yorkers.
