And from that perspective, anybody can drive and kick and anybody can catch and pop a J. Not just Kidd.
As for adjustments I would like to see made in the offensive scheme:
-More off the ball picks for RJ so he can be open for alley-oops. Many times,RJ is left without touches, and these little exciting plays might pump him up or something.
-Carter being used as a cutter while Jay is on an isolated post up.
-Vaughn being used a cutter. I like him as a driver for some reason.
So all the adjustments are based on movement, which would agree with the threadstarter. But I just don't see why it would be called the ''Jason Kidd Offense''...This is where we disagree,SeaNet. Nice post and nice introduction to a healthy strategy-based basketball discussion.

I call it the JKidd offense, because that is the effect JKidd has on a basketball team when he's in a groove. He's the one that starts it up, and he's the one that keeps it going. He doesn't have to dominate the basketball to be the leader offensively. What he does so great is establish that it doesn't matter who has the ball in their hands. When you watch him play, its just about advancing the ball to the best scoring opportunity as quickly as possible. And this whole style is tied to defense as well. It almost always starts w/ running down loose balls and getting things going on the break, and then maintaining that pace in the half court as well. And, thanks.

When was the last time the Nets had a backdoor cut for an alley op?

I agree with SeaNet. The Kidd offense is fluid and effective. The Carter offense is stagnant. That's not to say never iso Carter, but the Kidd offense should come first.

Here's another point people are not taking into consideration. There are 12 or so players on a team, the starting 5 probably are smart enough to understand the concepts of the motion offense but what about the bench. Wasnt that an issue earlier in the season and even up to now we are not really sure how much they grasp the system. I have sen some instances when they run Vince off screens and he becomes a catch and shoot weapon but they never do this for long instances. Me personally I prefer they do such a thing with him because it minimizes chances of injuries. Him catching the ball of the key waiting for a pick and then driving into the lane where he usually is mugged isnt good for the man's health. Vinsanity-z-da man made very good points in his post. Who knows how much the bench players understand Frank's system?

I like Kidd to control the ball as much as possible as long as he's in the game. We get so much more options. I hate putting VC on Iso. Kidd gets everyone involved, VC, RJ, Krstic, Collins. When VC is in ISO mode, we only get about one option VC all the way then kick for a fadeaway if the clock is at 1.

Watched the game from start to finish. Actually, I watch every single game. If not live on tape later.
Who caught it?

It's like the old Marbury offense.

Vince to RJ, it was like one of the easiest passes in the game. It wasnt a lob but it was the same principle.

From the half court set on a back door cut or on a fast break? Didn't tape that one. I actaully watched and must have missed it.
Still it's not happening as much as it should for a team that claims to run a lot of motion offense.
