No easy answer...
Well, as alot of people here predicted, the Pacers are turning out to be a really tough matchup. The first three games have been very different and there are not any recurring problems to address.
Vince was bad in Game 1, great in Game 2, and mediocre in Game 3. Yes, he was 0-10 in the 2nd half. Yes, alot of those were bad shots, as Mark Jackson said several times. But that is not the reason the Nets lost. The Nets continued to play badly even when Vince was on the bench.
Every Net except RJ settled for jump shots. Jacques was making them but nobody else was. Kidd passed up 3 or 4 layups to pass to a jump shooter. He should have continued to the hoop and drawn the foul.
The refs, as we all know by now, were calling the game inconsistently. I posted in the "O'Neal was fined" thread that I was worried that the refs would take it easy on O'Neal because of the fine...and they did.
More than anything else though, Lawrence Frank has to shoulder the responsibility for this loss. He is too conservative and set in his ways. He was outcouched by Carlisle. John Thomas should have gotten alot more minutes. Cliffy and Collins played alot of TIMID minutes because they already had 4 or 5 fouls on them. He should have put in Wright to guard Anthony Johnson. He should have put in Zoran when the Nets started to settle for jump shots.
Hopefully Frank will make some adjustments and not coach as conservatvely in Game 4. The refs' behaviour is not something the team can control. But shot selection and aggressiveness is.

well stated, these are good points. The starters looked exhausted during the 4th quarter meanwhile Carlisle had every healthy pacer play and had stojakovic sit during a lot of the 4th quarter.
