Stefanski Quote: James Augustine

Quote:
On James Augustine:
“Runs the floor extremely well, comes from a great program and had been a winner in his 4 years there (Illinois). He is a guy that definitely will be drafted and (is) someone that you’ll see in the NBA. He plays with a lot of energy he knows how to play on both ends of the floor and he runs the floor extremely well.”

I've been saying for awhile now that he'll be a steal for whoever picks him.
I for one would love him on our team, much more than Boone.

James Augustine
On his role:
“My job was just to rebound and do things to help out the team and I think that’s the same kind of position that I’m looking for on any other team.”
On the Nets organization:
“I love it. They’ve got great players. Jason Kidd is one of my favorite players so obviously to be able to have a chance to even come here and work out for them is just an honor for me.”

He isn't the physical presence we need.

What kind of presence are you looking for? Collins is our Defence. Krstic is our shooter and somewhat post scorer.
James fits "Rod's Rule" in his draft, and is everything they said they are looking for. Hustle and energy.

Another guy who ran the floor and was a great guy and played with energy and knew how to play on both ends of the floor: Andrew DeClerq.

Nope. Aaron Wiiliams is a better comparison for him. I want him in the second and he might be there by the time we pick but I have a feeling he's a early second rounder.

Augustine, as of now, could not be said to have the strength of Aaron Williams. That guy had a solid body. He would need to add at least 10 pounds to even be considered near him body wise.
Either way, Aaron Williams and Andrew DeClerq are actually similar in some respects. Aaron Williams has a nose for the ball though, and I'm not sure Augustine has that. The hands separate them.

Re: Stefanski Quote: James Augustine
Poor man's Darius Songaila.
The guy is weak in post defense and has absolutely no impact intimidating players. He couldn't even average a block a game because he has no explosion on the defensive end. He doesn't have the rebounding instincts to be like Drew Gooden and survive with his small frame. I am very low on him as a defensive player because he doesn't have the size, explosion, or the garbage man mentality to make up for it. His offense is solid because he is excellent making dive cuts and working in the pick-and-roll, but he isn't an above-the-rim finisher if the Nets are looking for one. He is a decent transition player, but not better than Boone at it.
There are plenty better players at where the Nets are picking.

Re: Stefanski Quote: James Augustine
Would it make sense for the Nets to trade 23+54 rounder for say Portland 30 +31? Looks like a lot of the big men fall into that area.
