Yes. I am a Nets fan first. As long as the Nets get good value in return, it's fine.

Re: Poll: For Vince fans (and Kidd fans)
yes I would because this board is one of the best board for anyone that considers theirself a net fan to visit.
I do like the magic but thats because of Howard but it's the Nets till the grave all day everyday.
Their record can be 1-81 and I will watch every game because I'm a fan. I don't care about the name on the back the one across the chest is all I care about

So if people getting paid millions are not too concern about the Net competing for a ring. Why should I be? I'm going to be a fan watch games and cheer. but I'm not going to kill myself over what the Nets are and are not doing

Re: Poll: For Vince fans (and Kidd fans)
I dunno...The Raptors are still my second favorite team but I found it impossible to go on any of their message boards after Vince got traded. It'll probably be the same with the Nets as I'm starting to feel right now about Nets fans as I did about Raptor fans right before he was traded. The Nets will likely remain one of my favorite teams but I won't get on their boards or anything because of the people there. There's still a couple quality posters that keep me around.

Re: Poll: For Vince fans (and Kidd fans)
Just short of "your" team leaving in the middle of the night(see baltimore colts), you follow "your" team to the grave.
otherwise...don't EVER call them "your" team.
Michael Keaton could show up and clone 11 other Jason Collins stiffs and Rod would sign them up, and I would hate breathing and would curse them with every hated breath....but they'd still be the Nets, they'd still be "my team"
any allegiance less than that, and you should feel empty and hollow, girls.

I really think that trying to watch a team of Collins' play would kill me. So, the team would lead me to my grave - and after that I'd probably haunt Rod Thorn or something. I suppose I'd still be at most games though, in that case...

Re: Poll: For Vince fans (and Kidd fans)
I'm a nets fan first and always. Players and their careers/efforts are too unpredictable to root for now. They either get traded, get injured/washed up or do something despicable that makes you not want to root for them. Stephon Marbury has done that to me and I learned my lesson and will never root for a player the way I root for a team. I was about 10 when Marbury came to NJ and was excited because he was a brooklyn guy, a local hero and he just totally let me down. Athletes are human beings and are imperfect but teams are just way easier to root for because they are constant, they barely ever move and the total sum of the parts is what really matters.

Re: Poll: For Vince fans (and Kidd fans)
This leads me to a question, and it could apply with any player, but I'll just use the ones mentioned as an example. (please note, I don't mean anything bad by this, or mean anyone is wrong, I am just seriously wondering)
Say you're a Vince/Kidd fan first, and you're going to follow them to wherever and root for them and whatever team they're on. Fine, to each their own.
So them comes the day when that player hangs it up...then what happens? Pick one of the teams they played on? Find a new player to follow? Stop following all together? | |
