Re: Marcus Williams
yea he forced things inside too much...but he played IMO well in the 1st half, than the 4th.
In the 1st half, he played solid defense, made key passes and was all over the place.
the 4th quarter, the game was out of hand, it was just a cluster**** of basketball...not really good at all but what can you expect when the game is out of hand like that.

Re: Marcus Williams
All of you need to get off of Marcus's ***.
Him and Boone go hand and hand.

I'm all for running the fast break as much as possible, but when you're up 25 with three minutes left you should be letting the clock run instead.

... every other is a bit much and an exaggeration.
Last year he had to spend time on the floor with Collins, Wright and Cliff.
He would certainly be more effective with Boki and House.

Re: Marcus Williams
By the way, as long as Marcus could find his shots back, he will be fine, just fine.
He is not good at shooting by now, but if he improves this in the future, it's gonna be ok.
Then he has to reduce his turnovers.

Re: Marcus Williams
He seems so lackadasical when he's on the court. When he makes a mistake there's no hussle to get the ball back or get back on D. I dunno if he's just being lazy or just doesn't realize what he's doing...

Re: Marcus Williams
Give the kid a chance. He is still very, very young and can still develop. Look at Antoine--there's no doubt that he has improved drastically in the past two years, and now he's clearly an asset when he enters the game. He is now a pretty solid defensive player and his offense is coming along. Maybe Marcus will have to work harder than he expected, but in the end, just like every other young draftee, how far he goes will depend on him. The one thing that he has going for him is that he is on a team full of players that have gotten where they are through repition and hard work, and have worked on their weaknesses to improve their game. I'm thinking of RJ, Snackbar, Mikki, Antoine, and Nenad. And Collins, also, who is a tremendously hard aorker, but all the improvement has just come on the defensive end. Terrific role models for Marcus.

Re: Marcus Williams
It doesn't matter what his long-term potential is.
Right now he is a poor backup for Kidd in terms of winning in these playoffs.
Carter should back up Kidd.

Just as long as the discussion is limited to what he can contribute NOW, as opposed to whether he was a good pick, or whether he'll ever be any good. Maybe the Nets will play a team in the playoffs that has a crappy backup PG themselves (unlike Calderon, who is a little sparkplug). Is that Chicago or Cleveland? I'm not really paying attention.

Re: Marcus Williams
The problem with Marcus is it looks like he doesn't even care. Always has the SAME facial expression. Now I know all players show emotion differently but I have never seen Marcus show any emotion. When he turnsover the ball he's like okay whatever, when he gets blown by on defense (pretty much all the time) he doesn't care to try to play harder D. Right not it's just hard to tell if he even cares.

you have to get by that. The guy who yells and screams isn't necessarily the better player. Don't we hear the same complaints about smilin' Vince?

Yeah that's why I said, all players show emotion differently. But for Marcus, he doesn't show emotion at all. At least with Vince you can see sometimes he gets upset at himself if he misses a layup, or FT, or commits a stupid turnover. Marcus is just always like whatever, **** this. At least show some emotion to show you care out there.
