He is also playing on a team with a lot of good rebounders, like Splitter.

Re: Draft notes
at this point the only player who can be said to be tested in high-level competition is scola so i would prefer him over question marks fernandez, mcroberts, belinelli and young plus we'll still get a pick in the 1st round from the spurs. combine scola with premiere playmaker jkidd and offensive threats vc, rj and krstic and he'll play like an all-star in this league. thaddeus young may even drop to 28.

No. What I heard is that the Nets would give up their pick for Scola...period. Spurs would have two picks, the Nets and their own. They know the value of Scola.

I hope he learns to play SG, or this won't be a good thing.
If the Nets draft a guard, he's probably sunk.

He needs two things: a position and a shot.

Re: Draft notes
can we get a big man to replace collins out of the starting lineup... someone that can get closer to a double double and block shots. preferebly a big body that can defend the bigger PF/C's in the league so we don't need to rely on collins. we have enough skinny big men

Very surprised at the Hassan hate on here. For a rookie that barely gets any playing time, I think the kid looks great. He has an innate understanding of how to make plays. He hustles his *** off, he's great around the basket, he gets out and runs, and he's a physical presense in a perimeter player. I would expect him to be a big part of the Nets future on the wing.

I don't hate him, I want him to be good.
I just don't think he was a particularly good draft choice.
Even the positive things you mention are a nice way of saying he has to overcome a lot of limitations.

what!? thorn should play hardball with the spurs then. scola is a nice asset but will just go to waste if the spurs are not willing (understandably) to buy him out at the $3M price tag. i doubt if any team will be willing to do that too. so that leaves only the nets who can bargain with tau ceramica as payback for giving them planinic who is playing well for them. the spurs can only deal scola to the nets. and the spurs already has a virtual scola clone in oberto. i say its the rights to scola + the 28th pick or no deal. at least the spurs will get something out of a potentially wasted pick in scola.

Re: Draft notes
a lot depends on tau, too. is it probable that they'd lower the buyout price enough to make this worthwhile?

It's hardly "hate". He was drafted at #54. The fact that he made the team is an accomplishment. BUT he made a TON of mistakes when he was given a chance...particularly on defense. Nets were 1-7 when he started in place of RJ. As Stefanski told season ticket holders, he doesn't know what NBA position Adams fills, but that he likes him because he will "knock your head off". Stefanski also said that for Adams to play more, he has to develop that shot. (In part, I blame Lute Olson for his lack of development. Olson played him at POWER forward while at Arizona. The kid was high school All-America first team shooting guard, but Arizona had Stoudamire>)
