Antoine Wright and LBJ
Maybe this was a fluke cause Bron was taking more jumpshots than usual but - if Wright is going to defend him like that - don't bother double teaming when Wright is in the game. Seriously, I don't think LBJ scored on Wright the whole game. And when Wright is playing THAT type of defense, he doesn't need any help no matter who you are(see: Carmelo).
Did anyone else see this?
Also - it's going to be tough to win this series if RJ proves to be unable to guard LBJ. Because as much as I love Kidd, Kidd is about 3 inches too short to effectively guard Lebron when he WANTS to score(see: wide open short jumper Lebron hit to basically ice the game).

Re: Antoine Wright and LBJ
man wright's d was very very good. He will be in this league a very long time if he can get a solid jumper down. He's proven his worth and if he can step up his offense he can do alot this series. Because i remember wright missing or not attempting alot of solid open opportunities to score, just because of confidence.

Re: Antoine Wright and LBJ
Yeah, he seems to be alright shooting off the dribble. It confuses me, he was supposed to be a pure shooter coming out of college. He's getting open looks, I'm not sure why he doesn't knock em down regularly.
lol funny thing - if you read his scouting reports coming into the draft - his strength was his shooting and his weakness was his defense. Really makes you wonder...

Re: Antoine Wright and LBJ
Personally, I think Wright did the best job on Lebron yesterday. He is pretty athletic and stayed in front of Lebron pretty well. If I were Frank, I would try giving Wright more minutes to do nothing but focus on defending Lebron. He could have some good success giving that one a shot for a while.

Re: Antoine Wright and LBJ
Antoine Wright did a excellent job on HypeBron James, too bad he's the backcourt version of Jason Collins at the offensive end of the floor...
Please no more J.Kidd or RJ on LeBron. The guy is too big for Kidd and RJ and his overrated D cannot stay in front of the guy.

Kidd and RJ both are much better post defenders. Both can handle bigger players in the post. It is on the perimeter that they have trouble. The Nets in general (except when Wright is in the game) and Kidd in particular rely on their strength to force the offensive player towards the help. That's how they (try to) contain penetration. Most often they are so concerned about protecting the paint that they leave the perimeter open . Wright is the only perimeter defender on the Nets who can play aggressive chest-up defense anywhere on the court without resorting to much help. That is not to say that Wright is a LeBron stopper. Nobody is. The idea is to make it as difficult as possible for LBJ, and that's what Wright might be able to do more than others on the team.
Also, on that last play when LeBron scored over Kidd, they were supposed to switch and have RJ on him, but for whatever reasons, they didn't switch.

Re: Antoine Wright and LBJ
New lineup defensively:
Jason Kidd- on sasha pavolovic
Richard Jefferson- on Larry Hughes
Antoine Wright- on Lebron James
Vince Carter- on Drew Gooden
Mikki Moore- on Ilgauskas
THis would be a pure running lineup. Cleveland will force the ball in the post and we should be able to help our guys downlow with steals etc, which will jumpstart our running game. Also rebounding would help.

Re: Antoine Wright and LBJ
if wright RUNS he will hopefully he will end w/ a few points. I still say that the best defense on lebron is to attack him on offense, and get him into foul trouble! Also the nets need to run more.

Re: Antoine Wright and LBJ
Frank would love to give Wright more minutes but he needs to commit less turnovers ohh and RJ's D in game one was just horrible.

Re: Antoine Wright and LBJ
I wonder though, about guys like Wade, James, Kobe.. or for whomever you care to make the arguement for, these players come along every once in a while who have great talent and stlye, and that is a huge part of advancing the rules of the sport. Rules that dictate the asthetics unless there are players who can push it to another place. Players adapt to the rules, and occasionally the rules adapt to the player. Without this, the sport would never advance and become Eurostyle.
Just my 2 cents.
