Re: S. A Smith "Collins is a SCRUB"
He's the voice of the average uninformed fan.
It's funny to see him on a panel with a guy like Carlisle who is so cerebral and really knows the NBA.
Either he explains to them ahead of time it's a schtick and he's really not an idiot, or he is just making a fool of himself.
It reminds me of the old skit on SNL where Sting is trapped in an elevator and people start singing Roxanne to him at the top of their lungs expecting him to tell them how good they are.

Re: S. A Smith "Collins is a SCRUB"
There is no better proof of how valuable Twin is than Screaming A Smith calling him a scrub.
I still laugh at the way he trashed Portland's draft night last year.

Re: S. A Smith "Collins is a SCRUB"
Lmao but Collins is underated just look at what he did with Bosh. Sure he could do nothing on the offensive end but thats what we have the big 3 for.

Re: S. A Smith "Collins is a SCRUB"
Well if you value your big men having offensive ability than yes Collins is a scrub. No real basketball playing ability, but he can flop, hold, grab and use strength defensively. The problem is, he has to start. He'd be great playing only 15 minutes a night, but playing close to 30 he's a disaster.

Well to be fair, that was after Stern changed the league policy on carrying weapons and KG could no longer distract Zach with his pump, uzi and couple M-16s.

He does play way too much, but that's Rod Thorn's fault, not his.
Here's a little scouting report on the most discussed New Jersey Net in the history of this forum.
He has an off the charts BBIQ and great instincts for where to be on both ends. He understands team offense and how to facilitate the game for more talented offensive players - a list that includes everyone in the NBA. He has surprisingly good lateral quickness and footwork. He has quick hands and reflexes. He works very hard on every possession and never takes one off. He will play hurt. He is very tough both mentally and physically. Even as a rookie, he was effective and played a significant role on a winning team.
All that is impressive considering his weaknesses are obvious to anyone who is not completely brain dead. You could never have seen a basketball game in your life and still recognize them.
He is one of the slowest runners in the league. He is impossibly slow off the floor with absolutely no explosion. He lacks the ability to jump off one foot. Even the whispiest player can slap the ball out of his weak hands. He cannot catch any pass that is harder than a lob. He cannot dribble a basketball. He has no post game at all. He will almost never get a shooting foul called for him unless the contact warrants a criminal investigation, and even then the ref will take a second look. He used to be a slightly below average shooter, but has deteriorated to the point that no coach in his right mind will put a defender on him. He has regressed from a 70% free throw shooter into one of the worst in the league.
He is a specialist and a role player. His NBA position is backup center.
In the Toronto series, he took all the heart out of Chris Bosh and really chopped the head off the Raptors, giving the Nets a huge advantage that eventually led to a series victory. That kind of contribution cannot be overlooked no matter what kind of skills a guy posesses.
