Hum, Marcus VS Boone.
As we near the end of this year, and we look back on last year's draft who can we say helps the nets more?, who has been the better player, and who helps us more now?
Now trying to start trouble hear, i just want to know what people think about the two rookies, well three if you throw in MR.Adams.

Re: Hum, Marcus VS Boone.
Well, as I've argued from the beginning, Boone is a perfect fit for the Nets, and will be better as a Net than he would be for nearly any other team. He is certainly developing nicely, but still has some work to do. One of the biggest defensive breakdowns I noticed in Game 3 was when Boone completely lost Varejao, allowing him to receive an easy pass and score. I think next year, Boone will be playing around 20 minutes a game consistently. As I've pointed out time and time again, it is very rare that a non-lottery Big can contribute more than about 6 points and 4 rebounds; when all is said and done, Boone will be considered a successful pick, even though he'll never be a star.
Marcus will be fine in time, though, if his head is screwed on right. A PG is just asked to do more than Boone is. It is all up to him.

Re: Hum, Marcus VS Boone.
By far Marcus has been the better player. Only because Marcus has been for us all year. It's not Boone's fault but I would like to see Boone play for 82 games to reevaluate both players. The NBA recognizes Marcus accomplishments with being on the second all rookie team. I hope Cliff loses all of his minutes and Boone takes over. No offense to Cliff but Boone is the better rebounder. I don't care if he hits the occassional 3 pointer. I hope Frank doesn't make the same mistake he did in game 3.

Re: Hum, Marcus VS Boone.
Are these two players rivals? Are they competing against each other? Are they competing for minutes?
The only purpose of this thread is for one very very strange poster to get his rocks off...again...discussing Boone.
These two guys are complementary players. They were college teammates and roommates. They are now professional teammates and friends.
A discussion of Josh Boone vs. Hilton Armstrong? Yes. A discussion of Marcus Williams vs. Rajon Rondo or Jordan Farmar or Sergio Rodriguez, even Renaldo Balkman and Mardy Collins? Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes and Yes.
But this is just too effing bizarre.

Re: Hum, Marcus VS Boone.
I disagree. I think that Marcus vs. Josh is a fine topic to discuss. They were selected one pick a part. At the draft, everyone, from experts to reporters down to fans considered Marcus to be a monumental steal, while exhibiting, at best, a luke-warm(play) reaction to the selection of Boone. Think of the number of web sites that pronounced that the Nets could have done better--Alexander Johnson, anyone? I see this discussion as a referendum on whether anyone knows anything, to paraphrase Mr. Goldman.
The truth is that Marcus needs work, and, while he is far from a finished product, Josh Boone is showing why he was a shrewd pick despite his mediocre Junior season. I still have faith that Marcus will develop into a solid contributor, but with most young point guards, the difference-maker will be what is between his ears.

Sorry, not in the context of his noodnik's obsession. Next topic: Hassan Adams vs. Mile Ilic.

One-on-one, I don't think Ilic has a chance.
