Re: What kind of last play call was that?
it was the right play. superstars are paid to make big plays like that.
at least, now we really know that vince carter does not deserve to be a nets after this playoffs. it's time to trade him.

Re: What kind of last play call was that?
It just wasnt a good play period. Backing down Eric Snow that Vince has had problems with all season. Why not just use Vince as a decoy? Why wasnt House in the game at that point? Put both Boki and House in to open up the floor.

Re: What kind of last play call was that?
It was pretty much Vince going on one-on-one on Snow. No real double-team (maybe a soft double but he wasn't really pressured to give up the ball or anything). The Nets were going for the tie and Carter had just drawn a foul on Snow. I see nothing wrong with the play. Honestly, we didn't even see the actual play. Vince wasn't even facing up on Snow. It is entirely possible that the play was for RJ or Moore to cut to the basket if VC was doubled or something.

Blame Frank for a horrible play...blame Kidd for not being a playmaker...blame Carter for trying to be JKidd.

Re: What kind of last play call was that?
On the "play" Kidd gave up the ball at the top of the 3 point arc to Carter who was posting up Snow. If Kidd stayed at the top of the 3 point arc it would have given Carter the option of going to his right or left backing down Snow and giving better spacing making a Hughes double more difficult. But when Kidd gave up the ball he came down to the corner and brought Hughes with him which cut off Carter going to his right and made the spacing worse and a Hughes double easier. Hughes was in the corner and then Carter made the mistake of turning his back to Snow with the clock running down. Snow poked at the ball (Carter said he was fouled, but the refs ain't going to call it)and Hughes was already hedging over and then fully committed going at Carter the result being the ball rolled out of bounds.

Re: What kind of last play call was that?
The problem I had with that play is that at 11 seconds left we should have gone for the quick two. The play started off with Kidd waiting too long for cross-screens to develop down low, and then more time wasted with Carter trying to back Snow down from wayyyy too high in the key.
By the time the play ended there was only 1.9 seconds left. Way too much time wasted. Poor decision by Frank.

Re: What kind of last play call was that?
If I was the coach, I don't have a guy 6-23 taking the last shot, I don't have a guy 3-12 taking the last shot, I have the guy who is 11-14 taking the last shot. MIKKI MOORE. He was hitting everything tonight...get him the ball when it matters. I'll take a 15-footer from Mikki rather than some awful Carter fadeaway that has NO chance of going in.
And how about putting House on the floor...enough of this Nachbar crap. He admitted to lacking confidence right now. You got House for these situations, PLAY HIM!!!

Agreed. The Nets showed no sense of urgency. Even on the second last play with 23 seconds remaining after the timeout, Carter was walking the ball up the court. They were playing so relaxed when they should've been going much quicker. Well at least should've gone much quicker for the last play because what happens if someone misses the shot, you need to have an opportunity for an offensive rebound or opportunity to foul.

Re: What kind of last play call was that?
i dont know if its franks fault or kidds fault also on the last play, but WHY the hell did kidd just stay there in the corner. that allowed the double team. he should have cut or moved out to draw the defender away. carter had no room to operate the spacing was horrible. why the hell would you iso someone on the wing and have your own man crowd him. kidd should have realized and circled out to the top of the key or something.

I don't think the carter fadeaway has NO chance of going in, but you certainly don't want a forced shot, and you want the hottest player taking it. VC did a good job by taking the ball to the rim, but if he hasn't been getting the calls this series or in this game, why do you bank your game winner on it in a (fairly) must-win game?
House should have been in, nachbar shouldn't have been. But nachbar has been our best bench player so I guess thats why you put faith in him? Eh, poor coaching by frank.
I said that if we were to go deep in the playoffs I would feel some restored faith in Frank's ability to change this team. That being said, by the way that we're losing, my feelings won't change unless we go on a 3 game winning streak.
But against these Cavs? Looks like I'll have to stick to my story

Re: What kind of last play call was that?
Why not call the pick and roll/pop involving vince and mikki? That play had been money all game. Instead we go with the play that's born no great results for us this whole series, isolating vince

How long does it take people to realize that Lawrence Frank is JVG junior.. The guy's an attrocious offensive coach..
The guys a great defensive defensive coach who knows where to place his players on the court to maximize their defensive outputs.. But on offense he's had the luxury of having two guys who can make something out of nothing in Kidd and Vince.. Two great playmakers.. There's a reason why, when the Nets get out on the break they're more effective.. It's because L-Frank's weaknesses gets covered up...
But if the Nets acquire a good big man and are placed in a more half court oriented setting, then it'll really expose how much a fraud L-Frank is on offense..

Re: What kind of last play call was that?
You have to blame frank on that call. How could that be the play he called? iso with carter hasn't worked the entire playoffs. You have one of the greatest point guards of all time and you are taking the ball out of his hands? run a freaking play. you have slashers in RJ, shooters in house/nachbar, and carter with a history of being able to hit difficult shots. Run some screens, make some passes. collapse the defense. pathetic. I watch teams like the spurs, suns, detroit and when they need a last play, guys are moving, there's 2 or 3 passes. if they close out on duncan, he pops it out and someone hits a last second shot. i'm not saying i have all the answers but an ISO with carter is definately not the best that Frank should be coming up with...not with the talent on this team.

Re: What kind of last play call was that?
I don't even know what Frank's plan was in that situation. Was it for Carter to post up and if he got double teamed kick it out to Kidd who is an awful 3 point shooter? Carter obvioulsy made a horrible turnover but it was still a bad play regardless.
