Re: Dear Rod,

Well we have to re sign moore this year. Keep Jefferson ad Kidd. Re sign carter then trade him for maybe Gerald Wallace or someone like him. Great starting five for the nets.
Center-Kristic
Power Foward-Mikki Moore
Small Foward-Jefferson
Shooting Guard-Gerald Wallace
Point Guard-Jason Kidd

Thats a lineup right there.

Unintentional hilarity.

Vince Carter has little to no trade value. How do u think we got em for a bunch of scrubs? Cause that's what he's worth. GMs see the fools gold that is Vince Carters game.

Nice logic.

Vince is not a more valuable player than RJ. Sure he puts up better stats. But so what? RJ is a team player, someone who wants to win, who wants to hustle, who knows what to do to make his team better. Vince is not that type of player. Never has been, and never will be. He'll just continue to smile and joke around after his team loses.

He has more talent, no doubt, but it's a shame talent isn't the only part of the game.

vince has the amazing ability to inspire legions of crazed adolescent fans. neither that, nor his stats, a winner make.

No, it was an intentional fact. Vince is worth more to every GM in the league than RJ is.

You got Vince for nothing because he forced a trade after being plagued by injury and refusing to dunk to spite the media who said he didnt take it hard to the hole. Vince has since put up allstar stats, while Jefferson has proved to the league just what he is, a good role player 3rd option type of guy. Nothing wrong with that, but it doesnt make him more valuable than Vince.

Listen, I understand fully that Vince is a no heart player, and RJ plays with heart and hustle. I get that. I just dont think that evens them out in GM's eyes. You can get a no heart player who will fill up the stat sheet, or a above average role player whos going to hustle for you every night.

I have nothing against RJ, I just dont see how it evens out.

Re: Dear Rod,

Alright people calm down please. I think the problem with this team is mismatched parts. R-Star I have to disagree with you on your comments, but I do respect your opinion. I think RJ if given the chance can develop into a go-to type of player. Will he be like a charged up Vince? No way in hell. BUT if he can even be 80% of that VC every night you have a better player than the real Carter. Anyway back to my point, Vince and Krstic offense/halfcourt players while Jefferson and Kidd are more defense/open court players. In my personal opinion I like the defense/open court style but regardless management has to pick a style or pick players that operate well in both styles. Currently Vince/Krstic thrive while RJ/Kidd struggle in one style vice versa. The starting lineup should be able to fire on all cylinders under a particular style. JMO fire away people.

Great post and I agree. To me its always been build the offense around Kidd, but I think its too late to make major changes to suit Kidds style. I also agree about RJ, if he could turn into a consistant 20-23ppg player every night, then yea, I agree, he would be far more valuable than a "Ill play with heart when I feel like it" Carter.

Again, great post, and I couldnt agree more about the play styles.

Re: Dear Rod,

ABC/TNT/ESPN should have a halftime one on one game, like in the old days, with Vince and RJ pitted against each other. With all 30 GMs in attendance.

Re: Dear Rod,

The only thing VC has over RJ is his playmaking and ability to waste shots. RJ is just as good a rebounder, better defensively, more willing to run, more willing to do whatever is asked of him, better at getting to the freethrow line, much more efficient offensively. Not to mention the extra intangibles that have been mentioned.

Re: Dear Rod,

Welp here is what I saw last night, did Vince stink yes he did. But guess what he had 9 assists and 9 rebounds, theres someone probably going to tell me, oh but numbers dont mean anything, well those 9 assists definitely kept the Nets in the game. Scroll back to the end of the 3rd, and ask yourself what happened to the Nets 8 point lead. RJ on 3 straight possessions had costly turnovers. Then to top it off, Bron hit shot after shot over him. I cant even imagine what RJ's +/- will be. RJ is good at finishing plays, not creating them. He pounds the ball to oblivion, his ball handling is weak, and its hard for him to beat anyone off the dribble, and heres a guy 3 or 4 years younger than Vince. Think about this, if RJ isnt scoring, what exactly is he doing? Where was his vaulted defense last night when Bron was going off. Sure trade Vince, but lets not get too excited about RJ becoming the savior.
