OT: Be the commissioner, you decide (Nash-Horry incident)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-0qe7PGCQvI
I'm sure everyone has see this before.
So who is going to get suspended? Anyone at all?
Very interesting to see what happens in the aftermath of this.

Well to be fair, that was after Stern changed the league policy on carrying weapons and KG could no longer distract Zach with his pump, uzi and couple M-16s.

Re: OT: Be the commissioner, you decide (Nash-Horry incident)
I put down Bowen and Duncan because Steve Kerr just told Mike and the Mad Dog that he saw both of them leave the bench in a seperate incident.
Quote:
However, if the league decides to suspend Diaw and Stoudemire, it may have to suspend Tim Duncan and Bruce Bowen as well.
In a play that went entirely unnoticed until well after the game was over, both Duncan and Bowen actually left San Antonio's bench early in the second quarter after Francisco Elson and James Jones were entangled. Replays clearly show Duncan walking several steps onto the court as Elson and Jones appeared to be ready to get into it. Bowen then followed Duncan onto the floor, grabbed him and led him back to the bench. If the league does indeed follow the letter of the law, both Spurs players would also be suspended for Game 5.

I'll be honest, I only want an outcome that helps the Spurs because I want the Suns out of the playoffs.

Re: OT: Be the commissioner, you decide (Nash-Horry incident)
Nobody. From what I could see it looked like both Diaw and Stoudemire were checking on Nash, who was not on the court at the time. They may have stepped a little onto the court in order to get around someone to check on him, but it was inconsequential. It didn't look like they were going after anyone from the Spurs.
Does a flagarant 2 come with an automatic suspension and was that what Horry got? If so, then he'll be suspended regardless.

Personally, I think the NBA will take the "Neither was an altercation" approach, as a way to get away from there black / white interpreation of this rule.

I don't think it comes with an automatic suspension, just ejection.

Exactly. Baron just got his foul on Fisher upgraded to a Flagrant 2 but he's not suspended for tonights game.

Is there a reason for that? (not saying that I disagree, but just wondering)

Re: OT: Be the commissioner, you decide (Nash-Horry incident)
Horry will definately be suspended. Even if nothing else happened after the foul, he has to be suspended. From precedent, posey was suspended by running over heinrich on a fastbreak in last year's playoffs. The elbow by horry pretty much clinches that a suspension is coming. Amare and diaw shouldn't get anything. Stern is screwing himself by following this rule so strictly. Follow it by what it was meant to do. Sure amare left the vicinity of the bench, but he did not get involved in the altercation. Is him taking a few steps enough to warrant a suspension? let the punishment fit the crime...especially after the league is refusing to do anything about bowen during this series. it wouldn't be fair to the suns, the fans and the league to punish the suns over a hard foul by a SA role player.
Legler was on espn radio today and he basically said this decision by stern is going to decide who wins the championship. If amare and diaw are suspended then SA will win. | |
