But you're also right that at times in this series Carter and Jefferson have had trouble breaking down their defender one on one. But you have to give a little credit to the Cavs defense because on some possessions they really rotated and locked down on the Nets. Something the Nets could have possibly done a little bit better in the 4th was swinging the ball around the perimeter when the Cavs were rotating and the Nets might have got some better looks but would they have hit the shots is another question.
you know, i wondered why we don't run those post players more often. Like if Snow is guarding VC, why not just post him low instead of giving him the ball at top of the key? Granted snow is pretty physical, i am sure it will force Cavs to rotate because of height difference. If that causes Big Z to rotate to vince, this can lead to either easy cut of Mikki Moore(he showed he can cut effectively in many occasions) or get an open shot by Mikki(even though he barely hit any outside shots during playoffs)? if we had krstic this would've been just absolutely deadly. Same goes for Jkidd.

Re: Why is Vince Carter so slow?

Lawrence Frank stopped using the VC isos in the low post and thats where most of Vince's scoring came from. Its tough.

Re: Why is Vince Carter so slow?

Carter will never work on his game but he is lacking the pull up jumper on the move to become effective again. His inbetween game is basically not an NBA starter material. Sasha played Carter very well in the series but he didnt need to worry about if Carter will ever pull up in the middle of his drives. First, he has to take the shot regularly to mix up his game so defenders would have to expect the shot and react, secondly, he has to make that shot regularly for his eye fakes, dribbling hesistation to be effective.

And no more screens for Carter please, high pick and roll = asking for double team to trap you.

Carter has lost his first step and jumping ability quite a lot, but if he is seriously about his game which he wont, he can stil become a 28 point scorer with the consistent pull up jumper.

Re: Why is Vince Carter so slow?

The definition of Crunch time is not really in the final 5 minutes,

and if you'd mean that time, then that equal we were already dead.

By the way, in the 4th qtr and 7 minutes to go, and it's a win or die game,

he still could not make some responses, that's why I would say that he blenched.

Re: Why is Vince Carter so slow?

Carter has to develope a good jumpshot, look Rip Hamilton he is not a good flyer, but he has the best weapon in the NBA - mid range jumpers.
