Carter Hints He'll Be Back With Jersey, Moore Would Like To Stay
Quote:
Nets coach Lawrence Frank, hurting from another playoff defeat, said it wasn't time just yet to talk about next year. But some players, including Vince Carter, made their intentions known. And Carter thinks he'll be back in New Jersey.
"We'll see what happens," said Carter, who can opt out of the final year of his deal worth $16-plus million and become a free agent. "But I definitely see myself (back). I fit in well; we built something special the three of us - myself, J-Kidd (Jason Kidd) and R.J. (Richard Jefferson) Getting (Nenad) Krstic back, Mikki (Moore) and Boki (Nachbar), we have a great nucleus of guys, I'd like to keep them together."
Moore has been everywhere, from New Jersey to Boston to Utah to Seattle and points in between. And after getting a return ticket to New Jersey for another chance to play for the Nets, he said he hopes his wandering days are over.
"I want to stay here. As long as they want me here, I'll be here," said Moore, who went from reserve to starter to integral piece for the Nets, who last night failed to force a Game 7 in the Eastern Conference semifinals by losing Game 6, 88-72 to Cleveland in the Meadowlands. "I don't have any desires to mess up a good opportunity for me. If the whole team was intact, we would be one of the elite teams in the league.
"They have to make a decision, but I definitely would take (less than other offers) to stay around here," Moore said.

Re: Carter Hints He'll Be Back With Jersey, Moore Would Like To Stay
The reality is that the Nets want to keep Carter. Everyone keeps saying it. I know some people don't want to hear it, but when Ratner, Thorn, Stefanski and Kidd all say something repeatedly, maybe some of you guys should pay attention.
The issue is price. If they can't agree on a price, then yeah, a sign and trade is possible, but simply not likely. You think there are other teams out there willing to pay him significantly more than the Nets will? Really? In this environment with most teams within a few million of the luxury tax threshold?
I know one of the board's favorite games is trying to read tea leaves to determine what the Nets REALLY think about keeping Carter, extracting obscure meaning from what they believe are ambiguous comments. As of now, I see nothing to indicate they want to deal him.
For better or worse, they want to keep him.

He knows very well that without Jason Kidd's vision and Nenad Krstic's knee, he wouldnt be in this position.

mikki is a good man.
loyalty to a team (and a bad knee) that gave him a chance.

Great post. I am with you, I don't see any indication from the Nets organization that they do not want to keep Carter. Of course, the media loves to do their job, which is to make the situation sound hazy and uncertain, yet from the way things appear, all arrows are pointing towards the big three remaining here.
Anything can happen, but I think most of the thoughts on this board are just wishful thinking at this point. We shall see.

Re: Carter Hints He'll Be Back With Jersey, Moore Would Like To Stay
i wish he still have kerry kittles so won't need vc.
vc does not know how to play defense.
i think the shine in vc's star is gone. anthony parker toyed with him in the first round. aleksander pavlovic never feared him in the second round. worse, even the rookie daniel gibson had no respect for him.
if he wants to stay as a net(s), he should stop demanding for a huge contract and accept whatever the nets will offer to him.
