Do we really need more youth projects?
Seriously, everyone is talking about getting more picks, but the nets have good youth that can only get better with more playing time. You can't have youth sitting on the bench and then get heavy min and then one mistake sends them back to the bench for another week. We already have plenty of young projects:
Marcus
Hassan
Wright
Boone
Krstic is even considered a project until he can consistently drop 20 and 8 on teams every night!
and the same goes for Boki
Thats 5 young players on the nets who become something above average, but they still need heavy playing time to reach their potential. Marcus, Hassan, Wright, and boone have vet competition that won't give them the opportunity to get heavy min.
So what i'm saying is that we need more vets and fewer projects

Re: Do we really need more youth projects?
Well, how are they getting these vets? Which ones? How are the Nets paying them? How will they improve the team?
With second round picks, these questions are easy to answer.

Stefanski shares your concern. At the meeting of season ticket holders I attended with furnace, he said that he was not disappointed that the Nets had only one pick in this draft because the team has so many young players they needed to integrate. Adding more than one could be difficult.
That's when he said that if there is a player in the second round they realllly like, they would be willing to buy or otherwise acquire a pick.
Right now, I can see the Nets starting with two vacant roster spots: the Robinsons' spots. Cliffy will be bought out because of his team option and Bernie needs the sleep. They will find a way to dump him. I can them considering sending Ilic back to Europe as well. Barring a multi player deal or Carter walking away, that leaves only Mikki Moore and Eddie House as free agents. Would not be surprised if one of them goes elsewhere depending on who the Nets draft.

I say Nets stick with the youth. Let Vince walk this year or next.
Kidd is outta here after two more seasons, unless Nets can get a good deal for him (capspace, youth, draft picks), or Kidd signs at a much more reasonable price.
Let the rebuilding begin.
And I don't know college basketball, but Glen Davis seems like the right pick if he's available.

Re: Do we really need more youth projects?
Are you kidding me? Rebuilding? Everyones always saying blow the team up start over but you know thats its not that easy. I mean the Celtics tanked th entire season and are ending up with only th 5th pick. We were rebuilding for deacdes before Kidd came along and what happended? We got swept in the first round a couple times. What we have is both lucky and special and throwing it all away would be such a waste. We will never find a Kidd again. We just need to actively pursue a big man and if we cant find one thn just stick with what we have and hope for the best. The Nets hav 2 years in NJ and I want us to go out with a bang.

Re: Do we really need more youth projects?
Dump and/or trade Cliffy, Bernard.
Draft Glen Davis and Sean Williams
Keep House and Mikki
Kidd/Marcus
Carter/House/Adams
Jefferson/Nachbar/Wright
Mikki/Davis/Boone
Krstic/Williams/Collins/Ilic
I especially dig this youth lineup,
Marcus
Jefferson/Adams
Boki/Wright
Davis/Boone
Krstic/S.Williams

Celtics have Ainge, who if he wasn't such an idiot, would be putting a pretty decent team on the court.
I'm not the biggest Thorn fan, but please don't put him in the same class as Danny Ainge.
Time to rebuild, my man.
The Nets as currently constituted have no real shot at winning a Title, especially if Vince stays.
GO NETS!!!!!

The only thing missing is a couple of hard working talented frontcourt players, they can be drafted.
Vince will be of much greater help when he is not soley initating the offense, and played to death in crunchtime.
I'm kind of neutral on Vince as a whole, I believe he would be a great componant of an offensively stable team.

I'd love to get both players but if you're talking about getting a second draft pick I don't see how. Bernard Robinson isn't worth a high second, and why would anyone trade a draft pick for cliffy? He retires and you've given it away for free.

Re: Do we really need more youth projects?
This is why I like the #17 pick for Scola and #28. Scola has a lot of experience and can help now. He could have the same impact for the Nets that Garbajosa had for Toronto.

Agreed.
But I wouldn't be disappointed if the Nets brought in some more youth. We are eventually going to have to go into a rebuilding stage sooner or later, might as well start with a good young foundation.

I like this post.
Why can't we get a miracle? Where's our Arenas? Where's our Michael Redd? Where is our Ginobili, dammit!
