Tiago Slipping
Quote:
Other guys who could slip appear to be Tiago Splitter and Rudy Fernandez. In their cases, the problems are buyout issues with their teams in Spain. Both could theoretically slip into the second round.
Splitter is an easier case to solve. He has a $1 million buyout in the summer of 2008 and his agent, Herb Rudoy, says he'll exercise it. In other words, teams will have to wait a year.

2nd round? I doubt it.

Re: Tiago Slipping
Nets, of course, might not have this problem with Tiago.

Re: Tiago Slipping
What are the chances we wait a year on him? If thats likely, Ill pass.
Rather trade down with 6ers. And take Sean Williams and Baby. Both can contribute right away

Re: Tiago Slipping
If Thaddeus is gone, Tiago is next on my personal board.
I believe he will contribute right away, he has everything the Nets lack.

I dont know about that. They both excel in one thing each. Both something we could use. Williams is an amazing shot blocker, think 5 a game. Davis is very polished on the offensive end.
Sounds like they are both shooting up the draft boards though, and wed also need that trade to go through, so besides needing them to fall a little, wed need someone to fall that the 6ers love

Re: Tiago Slipping
sheesh how long has tiago been supposedly in a draft? I'm tired of this talk of buyout from him and I'd rather the Nets not to get him.

Re: Tiago Slipping
Look at the ages of the Nets best players. The organization cannot wait a year for a player to come over and make an impact.

Re: Tiago Slipping
although, the Nets did wait two years for Krstic. that turned out well. In the end, the Nets should go for Sean Williams if he's on the board. The man would be in the lottery if anyone had seen him play a game since january

Re: Tiago Slipping
I don't think you can use the excuse of waiting a year. you guys want Sean Williams, when is the last time he played an actual game? it'd take him a while to get up to par. Thad? I'm one of the biggest endorsers of him here, but it'll take him a while before he contributes to much. Splitter is probably the most NBA ready, so next year he'll probably be as ready as anyone out of the draft playing in the NBA this year. at 17, we probably won't get too much contribution out of that player this year, no matter who it is.
Splitter isn't my 1st choice at #17 (although he is up there), but losing out on a year of him isn't the biggest reason.
