If he plays well enough to limit Kidd to 34 mpg or less over the regular season, I'd consider it a successful year.
Last thing the Nets need is for Kidd to play international ball all summer and then have to log heavy minutes all season long.

Re: What are Nets fans expecting from Marcus Williams?
The problem last yr was A LOT of Net fans had unrealistic expectations. Like ROY coming off the bench or something, just because he slipped that far. Vastly overrated him to now where you completely flipped your opinions around after you actually watched him. I don't know what most of you got caught up into thinking a lot of what you did. I do know, it was annoying to see.

He is improving his defense, I saw that he had been very aggressive in the game to the guy that he was guarding.

I watched the whole game, he has just been improving, he is only 21, give him a break, he will just be better in his 2nd season.

Not even talking about the game. I'm talking about the mentality over the last yr from Net fans about him, and how it flipped so quickly. His expectation level was way too high.

Re: What are Nets fans expecting from Marcus Williams?
I expect rookie to sophomore progress.
I want an increased sense that he is supposed to be running an offense.
I want a less 'shoot-first' mentality.
I want him to trust his teammates more, but be ready toget back on defense sooner.
I want him to concentrate more on his defensive effort.

I doubt how much games had you been watching for him?
Did you see the game that he one-on-give to the Suns Starting Five?
He is just a talented guy, and he just lost his confidence in the end of last season.
Yeah, his individuality is not always passion, but that's mean his is just a sober guy that concentrates in the game.

So if people getting paid millions are not too concern about the Net competing for a ring. Why should I be? I'm going to be a fan watch games and cheer. but I'm not going to kill myself over what the Nets are and are not doing

i was expecting more of a pass-first point guard, and less of a shoot-first player.

also is a walking triple double and is our leading rebounder. When Marcus does all that we will look the other way at his defense

Re: What are Nets fans expecting from Marcus Williams?
Exactly. When your defense is as piss poor as Marcus' you better make up for it big time on offense. You are putting his defense on par with Kidd/Dirk/Nash, all who are 300x the offensive players as him. When you are at Marcus' level you need to defend to get PT. And Kidd's defense is still 10x better than Marcus'.
