Titanic division still?
Is it still the weakest division? Methinks not!
Even though the Knicks have to prove to us that their sluggish 'postmonsters' wont be run all over the court and the Celtics have to figure out how to get Pierce, Allen and KG enough shots per game we are now in a very scary division... The raptors haven't lost any key personel and last time I checked they did have one hell of season last year.
I mean barring a major miracle the 76ers should be nowhere near the playoff pace, thats a given but with only 6 playoff spots (2 going to the southeast and central winners) and the knicks, celtics, nets, pistons, bulls, cavs, heat, wizards, magic, raptors and even outsiders (bobcats?) making claims this season where do we end up in this rat race?
The Pistons are older and so is Shaq, the wizards have glaring holes in their lineup and the odds of Lebron carrying his team solo again without a DWade-type injury are dicey at best. (if noone stands up in that team, i will be pissed off and I cant stand the cavs. Larry Hughes this means you) We are equipped but will we win the division title? doubtful. Will we get out of the first round? 50-50. Can we get anywhere? Until we get out of the iso-fest mentality...no.
thoughts? we have been dropped into a much stronger (on paper) conference seemingly overnight and all we have to show for it is a one-time all star who has been in decline...
Not being pessimistic but Im a little concerned.

Re: Titanic division still?
should be a fun 3 team race, atleast the nets can take the approach of 'every game matters' this year instead of trying to turn it on in march

That's honestly all you think we are adding? We get back a healthy Jefferson and Krstic too. More experienced players in Boone, Marcus and Wright. A good rookie in Sean. You expected them to add an "All-Star" to the team? We have Kidd and Carter.
If you think players like Boone, Marcus, Wright, and Sean are too inexperienced to make much of an impact and help Kidd, Carter and Jefferson, what type of players do you think Boston will be putting around KG, Pierce, and Allen? I'm not even getting into the fact the Nets will have Krstic, Magloire, Collins and hopefully another vet combo guard.

in all fairness, Collins scares nobody, Krstic could not defend Curry, Howard or Gooden and the best we have done since the days of Kmart is second round...
its just without an athletic rebounder we will struggle come playoff time, and until Swill learns how to play (again) and Boone can become Varajao we lack that major piece to contend in the post season...

Collins is a good defender. Look how much he helped the team against Bosh in the Raptors series. He also frustrates the hell out of Howard and Curry. He's not a complete waste.
Magloire is going to help. You gotta realize it's a team game. Frank will devise plans to get the most out of Krstic, Magloire, Collins and Boone. Kenyon had a very limited post game. Yes he was athletic and got a lot of points off transition, but Krstic has a better post game and jumpshot. Kenyon was a better defender. In total I think the Nets are a pretty good team. If it can all come together they should do well. Especially without all the personal drama they went through off the court.
