Ask any player in the league.
The best thing a team can do is find every player's role and ask them to do that one thing. Don't ask Kidd to shoot or RJ to put up 30 every night. Don't ask Vine to run the offense or Krstic to only post up. The best thing for a team to do is to encourage every player to work hard on every skill - shooting, defense, passing, moving without the ball, rebounding, etc. - and then to work to perfection the ones that they are gifted with.
Remember that game a year or two ago when Kidd (may have been RJ) pulled VC aside and told him, to paraphrase, "Don't worry about passing. Don't worry about sharing the ball. We need you to do what you do best. Go out there and score." And that's exactly what we need to tell RJ and Kidd and Krstic, and whoever else is going to be called upon this season. To do what they do best. Go Nets!

I believe you can ask every player to attempt to play defense.
