Is it not funny that you say that, considering that applies to the Nets as well?

Also, Vince isn't young anymore, he's not just going to turn up his game and play like an MVP. He is who he is now, don't really expect that to change. He's a damn good player, but he's not going to lead you to a championship. He has yet to show any signs of that so far in his career, why would that change now?

So if people getting paid millions are not too concern about the Net competing for a ring. Why should I be? I'm going to be a fan watch games and cheer. but I'm not going to kill myself over what the Nets are and are not doing

Someone completely missed the point of the thread.
The Nets need Vince to fuel their offense, that was why the thread was started. Have you seen their shooting percentages the last 3 games? Anyone who has watched the games will tell you that they are missing Vince. It has nothing to do with whether he can lead them to a championship or not. They need him to win games right NOW.

We think everyone is seeing how important Vince Carter is. He may fire up some ridiculous shots, but the defense played the Nets differently, played Richard Jefferson differently, with Carter out there. Teams can just sit inside and dare the Nets to beat them.

They're tight. No doubt about it. They're finding life without Carter isn't easy. Jefferson will never admit it, but he's learning how important Carter is to his game. Shots were easier and lanes were more open when Carter is out there. There is a reason the Nets are 0-6 without Carter since the 2005-06 season. More proof: three games without Carter, the Nets average 73.7 points compared to 91.5 with him and Jefferson's shooting without Carter is 37.7 percent (23-for-61) compared to 48.3 percent (45-for-93) with him.

And this was before the loss tonight

Re: We need Carter!
As much as it pains me to see the squad struggle like this, i'm happy that it's exposing the idiocy that's been polluting these boards the past couple of seasons. Maybe all nets fans can now learn to appreciate carter as a player and his importance to this nets team now instead of being so divided when it comes to him. Stop treating the man like an outsider who is somehow personally responsible for this team no longer being a finals contender, and recognize him for the damn good player he is. Acknowledge the fact that a large part of the reason we've been a competitive playoff team these past few years despite how flawed a team we are (no frontcourt presence whatsoever since he's been here)is because of vince's play.
And once again a bitter raptor fan jumps in with their worthless opinion of vince without looking at things clearly. Nobody was saying vince can lead this team to a title. This thread is about pointing out just how important vince is to this team, and our record without him is showing that.
Still, it's hard as a fan to see us suck like this. My only hope is that this horrible start will pressure management into making the changes needed for this team to truly be a contender. We need a legitimate low post threat to be a true contender, and if it costs us RJ and a few pieces to get that player, so be it. Right now the only players that are untouchable on this team imo are kidd, vince and the rook Sean Williams. Everyone else is expendable if it means getting back an allstar caliber big man in return
