My thought on Malik Allen
At first, I didn't like Malik Allen, because he is so slow, when he was on the court with Collins, it's the slowest front court and they don't rebound each other. The only reason that he was on the court is that he can shoot from outsite, and while Nenad is out, he is the only big man that can shoot 20 ft jumpers.
But right now, I am really fine with he is on the court, but the only one condition is that He can't play on the court, with Jason Collins.
The reasons are above, they don't rebound, and they are really slow. Collins can't rebound, we need a rebounding big man to play with Malik Allen.
When Josh Boone or Sean Williams with Malik Allen, Allen is so effective, he just needs to nail the jumpers. And I am glad he makes most of them.
Don't ask him to do that much, and give this guy a break, he only earns 970K this season. And you can't expect when Krstic will come back, he is the insurance of Nenad, and if you don't like him, you want to find another backup, and are you sure that the Nets can find another big man that can shoot like Allen in the FA right now? Allen has joined the Nets since the summer, he participated in the training camp, at least he knows the system, Lawrence Frank won't play another scrub from the FA.
Dumping him is a dumb thing. I am fine with him, his jumpers are uncontested, yes. But so are Mikki's. Malik is not as athletic as Mikki, and can't shoot that well like Mikki, but he does what he has to do. I emphasize again, he only earns 970K, not 6M.
He plays so well with Sean or Boone, but don't play him with Collins, that's the worst duo front court in the NBA history.
