Jason Kidd is hands down the greatest Nets player the NBA has ever seen. He brought us to heights unknown. Now he's suddenly been a cancer for the past 3 seasons.
It's funny how people forget that Kidd gave up the easy championship in San Antonio to stay with New Jersey. You guys are pathetic.

its funny how people live in the past too. i used to have so much fun talking to celtic fans about how great thier was 20 years ago while the nets were wiping the floor with them in the play-offs. not sure why people refuse to look at things the way they are now.

Re: The cancer is gone!
AIfan brings up a good point. That loss in 05-06 was completely Kidd fault. His defense was awful. And that inbounds pass h threw one of our last chances to make the finals. Whn Kdd and Carter were both playing some of their best Kidd scrwed it up by letting Wade take it away. I know Carter messed up durng the Cleveland series but it was him and only him playing his heart out that got us that far. Im sure he just ran out of gas.

But the guy especially this year was a disruptive personality. When the GM comes out and says "his heart wasn't year and it was evident in his play", what does that tell you?

Yet again, HB, you fail to read a post of mine comprehensively. When will this finally change?
No, I did not say that because Kidd turned down San An, he should not be criticized. But this should not also be swept under the rug. It was not as if the Nets were offering him $50 million more than the Spurs. What was it, $9 million or so? In a $105 million deal or so? Money was not the issue here, it was loyalty. And loyalty is best as a two way street.
As for this season, yes, Jason was obviously a distraction and his head was somewhere else. But, to say that he was a cancer ever since Kenyon left? That is plain stupid and childish.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but are we not talking about the past; about Kidd's entire tenure in New Jersey? Please keep your poor attempts at humor to yourself if you cannot add to the discussion.

$9 million or so might not seem like a lot to you. But to me its a whole lot of money. I am pretty sure Kidd and his agent thought so too. If he really cared about winning that much, he would have gone to SA and not stayed with NJ. Its not like the Nets put a gun to his head and forced him to stay in Jersey. He chose the money over everything else. For some reason I am not buying the whole loyalty thing, especially when Joumana's supposed media career also factors into the situation. Kidd made a calculated move, and in the end it didnt work out.
I agree with your second paragraph, if you noticed I also said calling him a cancer is going a bit too far.

Of course $9 million is a lot to me, but in a $100 million+ deal, I don't see it as a swaying point for Kidd. Whether you believe it or not, he did choose the Nets over the Spurs, and that is something that Nets fans must be grateful for; not something to criticize him for.

He did choose the Nets and maybe you should be grateful for that, depends on how you see it. A guy making $100 or so million somehow doesn't get my sympathy especially when it did it with his own free will. Don't get it confused, if he hadn't signed with the Nets you don't think the money coming off the books could have been used to bring in some premier free agent or free agents for that matter? As long as Thorn is at the helm, this team will always have hope.

Re: The cancer is gone!
Why are you so certain about that?
Reading an article like the one below, reassures me that Thorn would find a way to keep the team competitive

Living in the past means nothing. Kidd was a cancer and quit on his team NOW. Without him the team is much improved and has a better position for the future. That is what everyone who is a Net fan should be thankful for. It's great that he took this team to the Finals 6 years ago. Its not so great that he phoned in fake migraines and quit on the team. If someone hasn't shown up for games consistently the last few years its the prima donna wearing No. 5.

Re: The cancer is gone!
We appreciate Kidd for his effort in the first two seasons, but after that, we just can't be better, and Kidd couldn't help the Nets beat the damn Heat, well said.
Just do as Kidd said, "Time for all of us to Move on"
Yeah, we could be better without him, and he can help the contender, I hope this is the win-win situation.
