Re: Nets are out of the playoffs.
I would like to see the Nets preserve the playoffs streak record, but after 4 games, the Nets would be knocked out by the Super Celtics.

One could argue that they're in a better position just going for the draft pick, but I think we need to aim for the highest that there is for us right now, whether people think we can realistically reach it or not. Go Nets!

well, good luck with that. i'm all for winning, and i'd love to see the nets in the play-offs even if it is just to get swept by celtics. BUT, it will not happen. this season is over.

Re: Nets are out of the playoffs.
The next three games are key, if we beat NY, and Indiana twice and hope that the Hawks lose in that same stretch then we could be the 8thy seed again. Our April schedule is looking really tough though. Honestly I dont think we're making the playoffs this year.

Re: Nets are out of the playoffs.
If we win the rest of our games without losing any we still have a chance as long as hawks don't do the same.

Re: Nets are out of the playoffs.
maybe in some alternate universe in which the nets dont suck, they could win all of their remaining games, but with atlantas easy schedule even that might not be enough.

Re: Nets are out of the playoffs.
I think they not only missed out on a lot of winnable games earlier on, but later on in the season as well. Many teams they've faced lately have ben caught flat-footed, yet the Nets don't seem able to capitalise on these opportunities.
I think it's better they miss the playoffs this year. I would cheer for them if they made it and had to face Boston ( ), but I prefer that it doesn't happen. That should be painful to watch.

Re: Nets are out of the playoffs.
^True, and they did have a very favorable schedule earlier in the season. All the games blown to the Knicks and the Bobcats of the leagues have come to haunt them right now.

Re: Nets are out of the playoffs.
So does it mean John Hollinger is correct with his predictions two years in a row?

Re: Nets are out of the playoffs.
This thread was made a little early. The Nets are currently only a half game behind the Hawks. With a win tomorrow they would be back in 8th.

I have to give Hollinger his props. He predicted our ****ty record in fact he might have been generous.

Re: Nets are out of the playoffs.
Atlanta and Indiana lost games last night. Nets can capitalize on that today.

thats altlantas schedule since you guys are too laze to look at it your self. theres 5 100% wins on there. that means if they dont win ANY of the other games (which is unlikely) they'll finish 35-47.
Nets have road games at Tor, Bos, Cle, Det. and Phoe, Tor, Phil at home. thats probably 6 99% loses and a 35-47 finish. and thats assuming Atl will loose all their games to Chi, Phi, Ind, Tor....not happening.

Re: Nets are out of the playoffs.
^Atlanta just lost to Chicago, they are just an unpredictable as the Nets. Toronto is spiralling out of control. Bos, Cle and Det are probably losses for NJ. But lets not count them out of the race just yet

Re: Nets are out of the playoffs.
This is just one prediction:
Quote:
What's left: the Nets have the Pacers, Suns, Sixers, Raptors and Bobcats at home. best case scenario, 3-2, realistic scenario, 2-3. On the road they play the Pacers, Pistons, Cavs, Raptors, Bucks and Celtics (which could be a break if the game is ultra meaningless to Boston). Best case scenario: 3-3; realistic scenario, 2-4. So if they go 6-5 in the last 11, they finish at 36-46. The Hawks then need to win seven games (Nets have the tie-breaker).
Atlanta has the Bucks, Bulls, Knicks, Raptors, Sixers, Celtics and Magic at home. Realistically, the Nets can hope for 3-4 but if the Hawks get one of those final four, the Nets are in deep. The Hawks also have the Grizzlies, Sixers, Pacers, Knicks and Heat on the road. That should go 3-2. That's 36 wins minimum.
And then there are the Pacers. Indy faces six teams with losing records - Nets, Heat, Bucks, Hawks, Bobcats and Knicks at home. What if they win five? And they play the Nets, Celtics, Bucks, Sixers and Wizards on the road. If they win two, coupled with the other five, that's 36 on the season. So the Nets must win one of their two this week against Indy to clinch a tie-breaker.
Bottom line: it's bleak but not impossible for the Nets, who definitely need help. And the help they need is for the Hawks to play like the Hawks of recent years, not recent weeks.
