Nets are out of the playoffs.
can we make this official, and stop talking about the possibility of it. it doesnt matter if they are only 2 games out. atlanta beat orlando today and that was 1 out of very few games they had. thier schedule is a joke and there is just no way the nets will make it. lets get some more talk about the draft and how RJ sucks....and **** it, fire frank. like the knick fans creating a site, and making donations for Lebrons signing bonus, we should make donations to pay the rest of Franks salary as long as he is gone.

Re: Nets are out of the playoffs.
I wanted to make the playoffs, but I didn't realize were were in position for a top 10 pick.
Deandre Jordan would be solid.

Re: Nets are out of the playoffs.
Why would the Nets pick another big man? Especially one without a post game

Can they draft a coach?

they can't.
its kind of hard to understand nba scouts sometimes, but i'm sure they know what they are doing. i dont follow ncaa much, i do follow the tournament, and alot of the projected 1st round picks have looked like a joke to me. DeAndre Jordan? the kid that played a total of 20 minutes in 2 games for his team in the tourney? thats a top 10 pick? anywho, off to watch stephen curry.

Re: Nets are out of the playoffs.
I've been saying this for a while now, even when the Nets were locked into the 8th position a couple of weeks back.. THey blew off too many winnable games early in the season to make it.. A majority of that falls on the guy who's just now stepping it up (Carter), another who's forgotten how to defend (RJ) and one more who only cared about his paycheck (Kidd)and who isn't with the Nets anymore..

Re: Nets are out of the playoffs.
I feel terrible about Dirks injury but if Dallas falls out of the playoffs now we could end up with two lottery picks.

Re: Nets are out of the playoffs.
I'm sorry, but as long as my team is in the play-off hunt, I'm going to be rooting them on to win. I'd rather aim for having a play-off berth and continuing our winning tradition (although this season thus far has been very bad) and see the Nets succeed in some way, than wish them to lose so that they can get a top draft pick. One could argue that they're in a better position just going for the draft pick, but I think we need to aim for the highest that there is for us right now, whether people think we can realistically reach it or not. Go Nets!

Incorrect; the Dallas pick is lottery-protected. If Dallas doesn't make the playoffs this year then we don't get their 2008 pick this year. It gets moved to 2009, where it becomes unprotected.

The Nets in the playoffs would not be a winning tradition, it would continue early playoff exits with nothing to show for it. The best thing for the franchise would be to lose as many games as possible. That's the only productive means of getting anything out of this season.

Re: Nets are out of the playoffs.
I want the nets to be in the playoffs, but history says that Vince Carter's teams can't make the playoffs unless he averages 24 ppg or more.
1998-99 - Under 20- not in
1999-00- Over 25- in
2000-01- Over 27- 2nd round
2001-02- ~25- made it to the first round
2002-03- ~20- One of the worst records in the league
2003-04- ~22- Not in
2004-05 (raptors)- 16ppg -They didn't make it
2004-05 (nets)- ~ 27 ppg- They made it even though there record was 12-24 at one point.
2005-06- ~25 ppg -2nd round exit
2006-07- ~26 ppg- 2nd round exit
2007-08- Right now ~21 ppg max 22 prediction missed by a bit.
