Re: GT: Nets @ Raptors
It's over.
Onto the off-season.
Let's just hope November gets here fast, and we catch a new wave.

Re: GT: Nets @ Raptors
Bottom line is- Vince was too good too late for whatever reason this season, thats why we are out. I don't know about his ankle injury. He should work his butt off during the offseason to regain some of his explosiveness.Do some plyrometrics or something. Kobe does it. For Kobe Bryant you can't see the drop off in athleticism since 2000-01, for Vince there is a ridiculous drop off. But the beauty is, with a little effort Vince can actually improve his athleticism during the off season.

I see what your saying and I kinda agree with it. But one thing for you to think about is...every nba player's body is different. i agree, there is no drop off for kobe. i agree, there is a big drop off for vince. but dont say that kobe and vince's body are equal, ya know? some players are just born with different bodies and genetics.
i do think vince knows what he has to do and he has impressed me these last 14 games or so with his leadership and his stellar 27pts 7rbs 5ast play. I expect him to play like that all of next season.

Just to clarify Max, I think what ur saying is Kobe has better genetics which makes his body more stable through time. If that is what your saying I suppose that may be true, BUT effort has a much bigger role in retention of athleticism. In 2000-01- no NBA player was more athletic than Vince, and I think you would agree, but Kobe wasn't too much behind. The difference is Kobe has continually worked hard in the offseason, unlike Vince who said himself, "In my early years, I was blessed, I didn't have to try," that is why his athleticism dropped off between 2000- and 2004. But now is athleticism has dropped off significantly again from 2005-06. Sometimes when Vince goes for finishes, you know he would have made those two years ago, its more difficult now. At the same time, Vince has expanded his floor game since his early days, and just has a better feel for the game. His leadership skills have improved, and he just has more experience. In order for this team to be successful Vince needs a really good year next year. If they play defense- 24-25 ppg will be good enuff to get them in the playoffs. If they don't- he will need 27+. I agree he can continue the 27 7 5 play, thats been his potential his entire career, but he picks and chooses his spots like Shaq (not good because hes not shaq). Vince is much better in an uptempo offense where his team scores 100+ ppg.

no, im not saying kobe has better genetics. im not that dumb. im just saying, i feel like you are saying vince and kobe had the exact same body types and your judging vince compared to kobe and im just sayin..not everyone has the same body..they are not equal.
and yes i agree. vince has never been the hard worker kobe has been. but this offseason is the 1st offseason i can remember where vince worked hard. the day after they got eliminated, vince was shooting the gym. he took so many jumpers this offseason and Ian eagle did a little piece about it during the preseason. and his defense improved a lot this year. he played awesome defense on kobe this year.
i think vince will have a really good year next year. all the signs point there.
