Hey I'm with you, I thought he gave up too much with this deal, especially tossing in Anderson. Cleveland's been after him, today, I read GSW is after him, there were teams out there willing to take on VC.
Exactly if they waited long enough a better deal would have been on the table.

Either you are being sarcastic, because I thought you liked the trade?

This trade seems good for both squads. Nets free up all kinds of cap space for next year's free agent class. You guys get a stud in Courtney Lee. Plus he costs you guys nothing against your cap because he was a rookie this past year. Vince will only be "Vinsanity" for 2 more years at most. Vince helps the Magic now. We've been hurting bad for a player who can create his own shot. Turk was our only player that can do that. I only like this trade for Orlando if we can resign Turk.

2 more, isn't that the life of his contract? Otis Smith was not a great basketball player, but he know how to wheel and deal.....you guys got Ryan Anderson to top it off with the big fat cherry on top. He would be a very nice pairing at the 4 with Howard. He stretches the court ala Lewis. Nets get Courtney Lee. Now if there are takers for either Alston or Battie as expirings.........TBA. But right now, not a good move. Hopefully it's not Thorn reacting to Cleveland-Shaq pairing, but to me it seems like it.
man am i ecstatic, VC back to the homestate. i'll need to drive up to orlando to catch some games this season!
i think this was a great trade for both teams. i honestly do. lee is a young guy who should start off the bat and develop with devin and lopez. not to mention they drafted williams. and on top of all of that rod kept orlando better than the cavs. i dont think that should go unnoticed or unmentioned. that had to be a key factor in this trade. how we be upset with this trade.. yeah we lose carter but damn if the future doesnt look really good. we've got a team coming together.. and when 2010 comes around the nets are gonna look mighty enticing to free agents..
as for the magic well its obvious what carter brings to them. they have no excuse not to win a title next season and in all honesty baring a major injury they should top the east for the next few years. getting ryan anderson is also huge. i think he is somewhat underrated, he can space the floor like a mutha for the magic. and if they can either keep hedo or s&t him for a good starting PF(sliding shard to SF) then they should do all of the things i stated above.
although a trade that had to happen, its still a sad day for the nets
Look forward to the new era.....Lopez, Harris, 2010FA #1 and 2010 FA#2........Lee and Williams. Plus I believe you can actually parlay Alston and maybe Battie into expirings and maybe a future piece depending on how desperate teams get when rotational players get hurt.
back from Boston U for the summer, figure i'd come out of retirement haha. The Nets should be a fun team to watch again, even though there will probably be many loses next season.
