Knicks/Nets Trade
New Jersey trades: SF Rodney Rogers (7.0 ppg, 3.9 rpg, 1.6 apg in 19.2 minutes)
PF Aaron Williams (6.2 ppg, 4.1 rpg, 1.1 apg in 19.7 minutes)
New Jersey receives: PG Charlie Ward (7.2 ppg, 2.7 rpg, 4.6 apg in 22.2 minutes)
Change in team outlook: -6.0 ppg, -5.3 rpg, and +1.9 apg.
New York trades: PG Charlie Ward (7.2 ppg, 2.7 rpg, 4.6 apg in 22.2 minutes)
New York receives: SF Rodney Rogers (7.0 ppg, 3.9 rpg, 1.6 apg in 68 games)
PF Aaron Williams (6.2 ppg, 4.1 rpg, 1.1 apg in 81 games)
Change in team outlook: +6.0 ppg, +5.3 rpg, and -1.9 apg.
TRADE ACCEPTED
Knicks throw in a top 20 protected first round pick for a 2004 second round pick.
New York: They get a center in Aaron Williams who gives reliable offense and a good role player in Rogers if he gets into shape.
New Jersey: If Charlie Ward's contract can be bought out, we buy it out and let him loose. If not, we take his salary for a year and he comes off the books. He is a good backup if Zoran cannot deliver. We also come out with another draft pick which never hurts.

I am not a fan, I don't want to get rid of Williams just to find a home for Rogers. He is not making much, and could be used as filler in future trades as he doesn't have a long contract.

I'd guess that the Knicks aren't really looking for any more big men, considering 10/15 players on their team are PFs or Cs.

No offense, but we have no need for these two guys, where trying to get rid of guys like this that are on our team. Plus charlie ward is a keeper because he comes off of our payroll next year.

Yea, this trade isn't that good, I tried to get Jason Collins instead of Aaron Williams and the Knicks add a lotto protected 1st round pick, but the salaries wouldn't match up.

Why would the Knicks want a center as inept in the post as Michael Doleac? If Collins can't shoot a high percentage with Kidd setting him up, what makes you think he'll crack 40% being set up by Eisley?

I'd rather keep williams....and if the rumors of rogers being in shape are true, I wouldn't be too fast to ship him out.
