I was just going to come here and post that.....
I don't know how effective he is anymore. I looked it up and he got 9 ppg and shot 39.8% from 3 last season. Might be worth looking into.

I think a lot of people underrate him -- sure, he isn't the 25+ PPG scorer he once was, but there's worse guys out there for the minimum than Rice. To any team that needs a good shooter to play spot minutes, I'd snatch him him.

If we dumped Mutombo cause of age and other factors, I'd hate to pick up an oldie... why not just develop our talent? I read that Armstrong is usually the best shooter in pratice. Remember how everyone gave props for Slay? Lets develop the talent or try to.

I say he would be good to have on the IR list as a mentor and leader within the team. With Donnie gone he could be the guy we need. I mean how good would it be having RJ learning from a bonafide player who had all the skills? I mean just stash him there for a large chunk of the season and get him to play a Steve Kerr like role (designated shooter) in the playoffs. Just an Idea. We still have the LLE dont we?

If the Rockets are any indication, I'd pass on Rice as veteran mentor. His reputation as one of the more selfish one-dimensional gunners in the game doesn't bode well for a protege who isn't a top-notch shooter. The last time I was impressed with him was as a Charlotte Hornet, and only then because I noticed how much his game depended on Mase and Divac spoonfeeding him the ball.
Other than that, if he can be picked up for super-cheap, he might not be a bad guy to stash away in hopes that he'll make the big shot when it'll count the most as a veteran shooter, kind of like Deke and his defense in the Finals.

I don't think he will wanted to be stashed away, besides we can't offer him much in the terms of money either. I think he'll find a fit elsewhere.

A better stash-away type of shooter might be Hubert Davis. The Pistons will probably buy out his contract, and he definitely can be signed for cheap. I have a soft spot for Davis as a Knicks fan and if he's still got game at 33, Hubert is a solid veteran dead-eye shooter, at least as good as Glen Rice at this stage of their careers.

You can strike Glenn Rice off your wish list!!!
He signed with the Clippers.

A replacement for Eric Piatowski, huh?
The Nets still need perimeter scoring help, but I'm glad Glen Rice isn't the guy.
