Foursome fighting to join Nets

Quote:
There are four guys in the Nets' camp who would love to be hurt all season.

The four - Doug Overton, center Jonathan Kerner and forwards Larry Lewis and Damone Brown - are fighting for one possible roster spot, a position likely to serve on the injured list all season.

Overton has done well and Brown played well last night. I doubt if the other two have a chance, if any.

I think they were saying last night that lewis was a 34 year old rookie. Of those 4, I think overton might have the best chance, just cause of experience.

brown played on a couple of 10 days with the raptors last year and i liked what i saw in his limited minutes. he's an athlete and a slasher. built like a flagpole though.

As the roster currently stand, it looks like Doug Overton has the best chance to stick only because Planinic doesn't look ready yet to take on a major role, and clearly, the Nets want to moderate Kidd's MPG. I think Ian Eagle got it right, when he said if DO was signed, it probably would be for a few weeks or months only - like AJ's role was expected to be while the Nets waited for Childs to come around. Overton doesn't stand out as a veteran journeyman PG in any way, but that's exactly what the Nets are looking for. I wonder why DO wasn't a Net in the first place, instead of Anthony Johnson? I imagine it's because of AJ's Sacto connection, even though DO looks like a better PG.

Damone Brown looked pretty good. Rough around the edges, but an athletic, long, wiry prospect with a clue. Didn't make his outside shots, though. Given the choice, I might keep him over Slay.
