(1) Player of the Game

Kenyon Martin: 21 points, 10 rebounds
-His energy was an essential part of the victory.

2)Most improved performance

Kurt Thomas: 14 pts/ 14 rebs/ 5 assts/ 4 blocks
-I was very impressed with the play of Zoran but the fire in Thomas' eyes gives him my vote in this category.

(3)Most Disappointing Performance

Dikembe Mutombo: Strained groin limited him to the first 4 minutes of the game. I wanted to get some laughs seeing the 37 year-old wave his finger at someone.

Stat: Planinic's minutes gave Kidd the rest he needed to lead the team in the 4th Q.

PotG: Kidd. Both teams stunk. The difference was Kidd. K-Mart partnered well with Kidd, but he also showed his propensity to fail to identify double-teams in the post, the same weakness the Spurs exploited in the Finals. It's good K-Mart can draw double-teams in the post; it's bad that those double-teams are so effective at stripping the ball from him.

MIP: Planinic. Meaningful, productive minutes for the rookie.

MDP: Zo. If Zo can't stamp his mark on the donut of Knicks Cs, then who is he supposed to dominate? I can't blame RJ, because he's not a creative scorer and when the team offense totally shuts down, as it did tonight, he's at a disadvantage. As for KVH, when disappointment becomes the norm, can it still be considered a disappointment?

Yeah. That's the tragedy of Van Horn's otherwise (stat-wise) good career. I am not sure if he will ever be able to get over it.

Stat: ZP's minutes, since I think that contributed to Kidd's 4th quarter points.

PoG: K-Mart.

MIP: ZP

MDP: Van Horn. Houston is a great player, but he can't carry the team by himself.
