Time to Ante Up and Kick In

This is the time and the place

Quote:
If the Nets are ever going to stop being a bunch of mercurial underachievers and start to play winning basketball on a regular basis, their schedule won't give them a better chance to do it than right now.

For the next month, the Nets' dance card is as inviting as it ever gets. It offers this 7-10 team a chance to make its lousy November a distant memory, a chance to re-establish the kind of dominance widely expected of the two-time defending Eastern Conference champions.

Starting with tonight's game at Continental Airlines Arena against Memphis, 10 of the next 15 games are at home, where the Nets used to be a heck of a team and would like to become that again. Nine of their next 15 games are against teams that did not qualify for last season's playoffs.

....

December will be about doing something. Last December, when the Nets had a similar schedule, they recorded a franchise-best 12 victories, sweeping two five-game home stands and starting what turned out to be a 10-game winning streak.
3 Wed Memphis
5 Fri Milwaukee
6 Sat Phoenix
9 Tue Seattle
12 Fri @ Orlando
13 Sat @ Memphis
17 Wed Utah
19 Fri Washington
20 Sat @ Milwaukee
23 Tue Chicago
26 Fri @ Detroit
27 Sat @ Indiana

29 Mon Portland
31 Wed Golden State

The Nets can definitely take back control of their season, and of the Atlantic Division in this stretch of games. The back-to-backs in Detroit and Indiana right after Christmas will be tough, but the rest of the schedule is made for a big run.

It has to start tonight.

Yes it has to start tonight, but the Grizzles are not push overs. In fact they beat Dallas last week.

No doubt, but they're a team the Nets need to beat at home.

Its especially important coming off of 2 bad losses, and when it can be the start of a good run.

Except arguably the Pistons and Pacers the Nets should be the favorite against every team on the December schedule.

Taking 1st place in the AD is a good short-term goal, but at some point, the Nets need to reestablish themselves as a championship contender. A strong December would be a good start.

A weak December with this schedule should start Thorn thinking about pulling a Popovich and coaching the team himself.
