Its amazing
the amount of hate that the Nets get from fans of other teams, especially Kenyon, but Kidd and RJ get a lot too. I guess that's to be expected when you've been successful for the last couple of years.
NYC called the Nets "the poor man's Lakers" because they've had success in the past, didn't do much to improve their roster, suffered some injuries, and believe they can turn on the switch in the postseason. I think you definitely have to add the haters to that analogy.

Wade accomplished this in two consecutive series in the 2005 playoffs.

The last record was held by Kareem Abdul-Jabbar with 63%. Wade accomplished it with less than 20 field goal attempts per game

I personally don't understand how anyone can hate any team or its players as much as some seem to with Martin and the Nets in general. The Nets play good and fun to watch basketball, and as NBA fans, isn't that what we want? I can understand rooting against them if you are a fan of who they're playing or something like that, but people just seem to be spitting venom left and right about your guys' core.

I like Jason Kidd. He's great.
It's the rest of the Nets roster that bothers me. But I don't think they're going to do anything this year so I'm not too worried about them. I'd just like to see a new face from the east in the finals after the Nets. The Nets just don't match up well with the top teams from the west...mostly because Kenyon is too small.

New York fans are passionate, I like that about us... And hey if they hate the Nets due to the Knicks sucking and the Nets cruising... that is ok by me.
Furthermore I found it better then when no one cared about the Nets and how we were stinking the joint up.

It's quite flattering to be cited.
Take the trash talk as a compliment. In a competitive system, there's constant friction as the teams below fight their way to the top and the teams on top fight to stay on top. The Nets aren't on top, but they're high up in the NBA heirarchy and in the way of folks who are upwardly mobile. The trash talk is part of the tearing down process.
Hey, you don't hear any fans trash-talking the Orlando Magic at the moment, right?
As an analogy, it's like being Americans. We have to put up with a lot of trash talk and folks around the world desiring and trying to take us down. At heart, all that ugliness is about basic competition in a competitive world. You deal with it for what it is, maybe even accept it as a compliment to a hard-earned status, and stay mission-focused. The thing to do in a competitive system is to win.

It's almost as "amazing" as the irony between your post and your avatar of Martin doing his hideous mug dance for the camera. How could anyone hate on that?
