yes. this is exactly why the WTC fell.
Most people think it fell because of the amount of fuel in the fire. But this is not true. The max temp that the fuel could have reached was not even remotely close enough to melting the steel. The heat is not what caused the collapse. Rather, it was the damage to the supporting columns. Initially, the columns that were destroyed on impact had their weight transeferred to the adjacent surrounding columns. This weight was distributed evenly, but it was too much weight for the columns to bear. Eventually, they started to bow. A domino effect was created, and all the columns bowed outward. As they bowed outward, the floor began to bow inwards. Its supports could not hold the weight, and, combined with the bowing of the supporting columns, the floors of the towers literally began to fall. The weight of each floor, and the velocity of which they hit the subsequent floor, caused a domino effect. And before you knew it, the towers were gone.
