I still have to decide whether to get plasma, LCD, or rear projection. I'll probably go with what Consumer Reports recommends.

I went for the Panasonic 42" plasma at Sears after finding the best price around and having them match it.

Haven't regretted it. TV is great.

They even give you info in their reviews on the best way to do your settings. All from calibration machines.

The onlyl difference I did was a -8 or 9 on the sharpness instead of the recommended -14. -14 seemed to blurry to me.

Why did you choose plasma over LCD or rear projection? They all appear to have strengths and weaknesses. [although consumer reports agrees that the Panasonic is a great TV]

I buy a lot of electronics through b&H Photo in Manhattan. They do a brisk mailorder business and their prices generally can't be beat, unless someone is having a deep sale. They are primarily a camera equipment shop but they sell just about everything now. I just wouldn't want a big-screen TV shipped to me. Their web site is bhphotovideo.com.

I'll be the first to admit I don't know much about this stuff, but my dad bought one about a year ago and it's absolutley gorgeous. He got a Samsung HP-R 4272. Not too big, not too small, and a great picture.
