Raptors offer Vince, Rose to Hornets
Quote:
A trade involving Raptors' franchise Vince Carter and teammate Jalen Rose is lighting up the airwaves in New Orleans, according to WGNO, the cities' local sports radio.
According to the radio report, Toronto has offered Carter and Rose in exchange for P.J. Brown and Canadian Jamaal Magloire. The deal reportedly will include an undisclosed amount of cash. It is no secret in Toronto that Vince Carter is unhappy with his exclusion from the Raptors' off-season revamping of its front office and coaching staff.

So, they are offering Vince Carter and Jalen Rose for PJ Brown, Jamaal Magloire and cash.
Good? Bad? What do you think?

Wow look at all the comments from NO hornets fans. No wonder they need a draw.
This deal is not gonna happen. It does not even work under the cap.

Dud deal for both teams in my opinion. Leaves the Raptors without a perimeter, the Hornets without an interior. My suggestion I made in another thread was Carter/Marshall for Magloire/Mashburn, which works under the cap (unlike the proposed trade). With this deal, you'd still be trading a big for small in Magloire for Carter, but at least you're not trading a second big for a second small. Instead, you swap your aggitated and injury-prone SF for their cheap, expiring, underrated SF.
Still, with the move out west where bigs rule, it is still an iffy idea for the Hornets. The biggest advantage is that Carter will sell tickets, which New Orleans could certainly use some of. I don't believe you guys are making the playoffs either way, so why not sell some extra tickets along the way?

If we traded both Magloire and Brown we would have no frontline. West and Anderson would be the big guys. Traylor is a free agent. Brown, Wesley, and Mash, who is a whole other issue, are the guys we will most likely look to trade. Vince would have definitely brought fans. After a few years, the city is starting to warm up to the new team.
We suffered a blow when TO matched Peterson. Personally, I'd like to go after Rodney White. He'd be a great fit!

Dude... you would have Vince Carter and Jalen rose!!!!!! Sorry... i just think P.J. Brown is not that great and Magloire had just one good year! If the offer is made i say TRADE TRADE TRADE!
You can fill your inside later.. Imagine a starting 5 like:
Baron, Jalen, Vince, West, Traylor...
Sure the front court could use more size but it sure woul be one of the best PG/SG/SF combo!
People would pay everynight to see it!

It doesn't make sense for either team in my opinion.
The Raptors need Magloire, but with Marshall and especially Bosh, there's no need for Brown really. As for the Hornets, David West could probably play PF very well, but then the Hornets will be left scraping up a sorry center off the free agent list. However, Davis, Carter, and a healthy Mashburn would be one hell of a trio.
