NOLA.com: Hornets defend ticket practice
Marketing director: Heat game sales not at charities' expense
Full Article
Quote:
Hornets owner George Shinn's practice of distributing tickets to the underprivileged was questioned in an Associated Press report Friday, alleging the team inflated its attendance figures by reselling tickets that had been earmarked for charity for a game against center Shaquille O'Neal and the Miami Heat.
Tim McDougal, the Hornets' director of marketing, said Friday night that the practice is commonplace in the NBA. The move was a business decision to make more tickets available for fans who wanted to attend a game that was sold out, while Shinn gave the charities tickets to a different game, he said.

Hornets First Round Pick Chris Paul on playing with J.R. Smith:
"It's going to be too exciting to play alongside J.R. He loves to play above the rim and I love to put it above the rim for him to catch it. I'm just excited because he's a young, up-and-coming player just like myself."
