NOLA.com: Marquee players shunning Hornets

However, team gets to see three more for draft

Full Article

Quote:
Three more draft prospects went through drills Thursday, allowing Hornets coach Byron Scott and General Manager Allan Bristow to take a closer look at them before the June 28th draft.

Most of the players the Hornets are considering taking with their second-round, 33rd overall pick -- including Florida guard Anthony Roberson, Kansas guard Keith Langford and Tennessee Tech forward Willie Jenkins, who all worked out Thursday -- gladly have accepted invitations to show team officials what they can do.

Hornets First Round Pick Chris Paul on playing with J.R. Smith:
"It's going to be too exciting to play alongside J.R. He loves to play above the rim and I love to put it above the rim for him to catch it. I'm just excited because he's a young, up-and-coming player just like myself."

Re: NOLA.com: Marquee players shunning Hornets

Its not like it will stop us from drafting them if they are available. Players need to realize something different is happening in New Orleans. JR Smith got to showcase what he had as did Dan Dickau. If I was a player I think Id like to be an integral part of a rebuilding team.

That's pretty classless of the guys who are "shunning" the Hornets. Like Jsimo12 said though, it doesn't matter if the guys aren't coming, because that wouldn't stop the Hornets from drafting him.

I don't think the guys who say no to a work out invitation are being classless. These guys' agents are most likely telling them what to do and guiding them through everything. The agents are very powerful, especially to players coming into the league, and are doing what they think is best for their clients. I'm sure the Hornets are not the only team that is being "shunned" by some of the top prospects. But like yall said, it shouldn't keep the Hornets from drafting a prospect. I'm hoping the Hornets would still take Chris Paul if he falls to #4.
