Re: Hornets hope another gem falls their way..

just imagine if we pull out a lucky draft and get 2 great starters and a solid bench player in the second round. With the exception of Kirk Haston, we've drafted good-great players for the past decade, most often in the mid teens. I truly believe that we're gonna have a solid draft, and are going to improve even more on a great last season.

Bigs (in order):
Patrick O"Bryant
Cedric Simmons
Hilton Armstrong
Saer Sene

Sg's
Randy Foye(more than likely gone)
Rodney Carney
Ronnie Brewer
Shannon Brown

2nd Rounders
Allan Ray
James White
Steve Novak
Quincy Douby
Hassan Adams

Re: Hornets hope another gem falls their way..

Work has me so tired that my posting has decreased almost entirely! I havent even thought about this draft! I feel so bad...

I think the Hornets have been doing well with putting this team together so I have faith in them...

I wish we could pull off a trade of our two 1st rounders high enough to get Morrison, but that will not happen.

Re: Hornets hope another gem falls their way..

I'd be pretty happy with the picks you have, you're guaranteed to get at least one useful bigman (out of those listed), and can probably get a decent wing too.
Or even draft someone else, then trade him n JR somewhere.
Even getting a pick from a high playoff team next year is useful, that draft looks to be deep.

As it is, rebuilding around Chris Paul isnt going to be particularly difficult - you have a good cap situation, looking to have picks in decent places, and moveable pieces (Smith, Mason, possibly Claxton ((S/T)), even Marc Jackson - everyone needs a big, or simply as a salary throw in)

O'Bryant would be good if he's available, you have time to let him develop.
I can actually imagine you taking White in the second, if he's available - good wing next to Paul, excellent backup if not decent starter - plus he'll help draw fans (and business opportunities - i still think he's likely to win the dunk contest next year)

But most importantly, everyone needs to fit around Chris Paul. (though it is likely you'll need to trade for an allstar calibre sidekick down the line)

O'Bryant would be a good choice IMO
