New Hornets Take Two
http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=2508889
Looks like the Hornets will indeed get Tyson Chandler, giving up J.R. Smith and P.J. Brown.
Tyson Chandler
David West
Peja Stojakovic
Desmond Mason
Chris Paul
Bobby Jackson
That team looks damn solid in my eyes! I would like to see them get a little more physical center to have a three-man rotation at the 4 & 5 spots. For example, if Zo were to sign, they could all play around 32 minutes per game. Tyson Chandler could play both spots, while Zo & West could get rests at different times. Them when Chandler needs a rest, play Zo and West. I highly doubt Zo will even play this season much less sign with the Hornets, but I think his veteran leadership & big body would greatly help the team.

Id hate to lose PJ Brown...I know his time has come and gone and come and gone again but I was hoping he would ride off into the sunset and finish his career coming off of the bench for the Hornets...Very mixed feelings from me

same here...but then again, I was calling for the Hornets to trade P.J. 4 or 5 years ago (not b/c I didn't like him or think he was good, just b/c I thought his trade value was at its peak back then)...I'm actually surprised that it looks like we will be able to get a player the caliber of Tyson Chandler for him and J.R....I really wish we could keep J.R. and let him play some w/ the team we have put together for next year. I think some of his weaknesses could be disguised this year b/c of the upgrades we made to our team. But then again, maybe it's an attitude problem. I don't think anyone really knows for sure. I'll continue to root for J.R. wherever he goes, especially if that's to the Bulls, who are easily my 2nd fav team now that they have Ben Wallace, Duhon, and of course, TYRUS THOMAS!!!!

Re: New Hornets Take Two
I wouldn't mind seeing us signing him next offseason so he can retire as a hornet, but I think from a winning standpoint this would give us a serious defensive presence, and an excellent offensive rebounder, although chandlers absolute offensive ineptitude scares the hell out of me.
And Big J, remember that we just drafted a center and a pf/c, that are both going to be getting burn this season, along with still having marc jackson on the roster, so we don't need anymore frountcourt depth at all.

Thanks man, I didnt pay much attention to the draft to be honest. I should research it a little more I guess.

Re: New Hornets Take Two
I just hate this trade.Chandlers' contract is horrilble and he's just a moderately effective PF.He is incapable of playing center against anyone of any strength and he has trouble simply catching the ball.If you have CP then you need guys who can cash in the easy baskets he gives your big men.I would rather keep PJ and use the capspace for the FA's that will be available after the 2007 season.Chandler doesn't help you out next year one iota more than Brown does and after that you're saddled with an overpaid big man that only gives you a few rebounds and a couple of blocks before he gets into foul trouble.

PJ actually wants to go. He wants a shot at a title and won't get it with the Hornets. He also if playing away from home anyway in his last season (as the team is playing 35 "home" games in OKC rather than New Orleans). Therefore, the team is honoring his wishes and trying to get something for him.
