ARE YOU SERIOUS, No way can the Hornets possibly think about signing Tim Floyd, my god, they actually had an interview with him!
Former Chicago Bulls and University of New Orleans coach Tim Floyd interviewed for the New Orleans Hornets coaching job Thursday at the team's suburban practice facility.
Floyd, who also coached at Iowa State and led that team three times to the NCAA Tournament, has not coached since resigning from the Bulls in December 2001 with a 49-190 overall record, one of the worst ever by an NBA coach.
Hornets vice president of basketball operations Bob Bass has said it would be unfair to judge Floyd by his Chicago record because Floyd took over right after the departure of Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen and other top players.
Floyd, who now lives in New Orleans, has said coaching the Hornets would be a dream job.
"Well I think certainly of the jobs that are open right now, this team has the opportunity to win more than the others,'' Floyd said.
Unlike Floyd's Bulls teams, the Hornets have made the playoffs four-straight seasons and have a veteran lineup with two players -- Jamal Mashburn and Baron Davis -- who have appeared in All-Star games.
Bass, who has been careful not to go into detail about his discussions with potential coaches, maintained a similar tack after Thursday's meeting.
"I think we had a good conversation and there will probably be another one later on in the week or at sometime,'' he said.
The Hornets announced May 4 they would not renew the contract of Paul Silas
Would absolutely ANY hornets fans be happy if the Hornets signed Tim Floyd as there coach? I just cant see it happenning...just cant...
