Forward David West, who missed his fifth straight game Wednesday night against the Phoenix Suns, said he plans on returning to the Hornets' lineup Tuesday against the Toronto Raptors.


West hasn't practiced since before the Hornets played the Los Angeles Clippers on Nov. 12 because of swelling and soreness in his right elbow. But West said he is scheduled to visit the team's doctor again on Friday to be re-evaluated.
West said he hopes to resume shooting over the weekend and return to practice on Monday. "I'm getting a little more flexibility in my elbow and that's good," West said. "But we'll see again on Friday and hopefully (the doctor) says I can at least go out there and take some shots. I don't know about contact yet, but I'm shooting for Tuesday."

News: David West is scheduled to see the team doctor again today to have his injured right elbow re-evaluated. West, who has missed the past seven games, hopes to play Tuesday against Toronto.


Views: Don't count on seeing West back in the lineup until at least Friday against the Chicago Bulls. And don't count on his return immediately rescuing the team from its rickety offense, either. West will need time to regain his rhythm. His Hornets teammates likely will also need time to adjust to playing with him again.
