Morris Peterson lived in Canada the past seven years, where New Orleans culture comes in a box of Popeye's chicken or on the new television show "K-Ville."
Peterson is now a New Orleans Hornet, which means he's a new New Orleanian. And he's been eating.
"I've got to admit," the former Toronto Raptor said, "I've been eating gumbo almost every day. Everywhere I go -- 'Y'all, got gumbo? Y'all got shrimp?' I've probably ate more shrimp and gumbo in two weeks than I've eaten in my whole life. Being in Toronto, you had a bunch of different foods there, but nothing like the New Orleans-style, Cajun food. It's a lot different culture, and I appreciate it. Crawfish. Po-boys. Stuff like that."
