Nuggets' Kenyon Martin suspended 1 game for a flagrant foul. Not sure I agree with this.He certainly knocked the crap out of Melvin, but I don't think it was intentional.I don't think they'd have suspended him if he had not fractured Melvin's eye socket
After watching the replay a few times, it looked very intentional to me. He definitely pulled a Kobe. He waited until after he was stripped of the ball to throw his elbow out, he should have got a flagrant during the game.
I guess this guy agree with me. I do not believe it he intentionally tried to hurt him, but because of the outcome I believe he should have been suspended more than one game. I remember in the Lakers vs Suns playoff series from two years ago, Kobe elbowed Barbosa in the mouth. He was taken to the locker room to get stitches to finish the game. The next year Kobe was suspended twice for throwing elbows. I'm happy the league is taking steps to make the players responsible for their actions. They could possibly end someone career.
LOL! @ Vecsey calling Fortson 'Danny Pigtails'. Originally I didn't know his injury was that bad and was ready to tell Ely to put on a pair of goggles. Sucks that he has to miss much time because of this. Get well soon Mel.
This is big for the Hornets.Ely has plenty of flaws, but he gives you a scoring option off the bench who isn't a 40% shooter

Center Melvin Ely, who has missed 10 games with a fractured left eye socket, was cleared Friday to begin full contact work. Ely is required to wear a protective mask. Ely said he still gets headaches resulting from the blow he took from Denver forward Kenyon Martin's elbow.
"I'm going to need the next three days to get back in shape," Ely said. "I'm happy to be out there, because it's time to bring the bench back up."
Scott said they plan to put Ely through practices this week before determining whether he will play Wednesday night against the Los Angeles Lakers at the New Orleans Arena
