Exclamation Idea: Hornets/Knicks

New Orleans trades: C Elden Campbell (13.9 ppg, 6.9 rpg, 1.3 apg in 28.0 minutes)
PG David Wesley (14.2 ppg, 2.1 rpg, 3.5 apg in 37.1 minutes)
SF George Lynch (3.8 ppg, 4.1 rpg, 1.2 apg in 19.8 minutes)
PF Matt Bullard (3.4 ppg, 1.5 rpg, 0.5 apg in 11.3 minutes)
PG Bryce Drew (3.4 ppg, 1.2 rpg, 1.7 apg in 12.7 minutes)
New Orleans receives: SF Latrell Sprewell (19.4 ppg, 3.7 rpg, 3.9 apg in 41.1 minutes)
PF Kurt Thomas (13.9 ppg, 9.1 rpg, 1.1 apg in 33.8 minutes)
PG Frank Williams (13.9 ppg, 9.1 rpg, 1.1 apg in 33.8 minutes)

The Knicks get a C and PG to fill bot team needs. They get a natural SF, and another defensive SF who wont take shots away from Houston and Mcdyess.

The Hornets get a bigger 2, a younger PF, a backup PG, and more minutes for Jamaal Magloire.

The Knicks new starting lineup:
PG David Wesley
SG Allan Houston
SF George Lynch
PF Antonio Mcdyess
C Elden Campbell

The Hornets new starting lineup:
PG Baron Davis
SG Latrell Spreewell
SF Jamal Mashburn
PF Kurt Thomas or PJ Brown
C Jamaal Magloire

I like this trade how about you guys?

Well, I dislike this trade. I don't HATE it, but I am simply overwhelmed with the feeling that the Hornets should not mess with a good thing. The old guys are getting replaced with capable young guys within the organization already, and we are very deep. I don't think that trade would kill our chances to win the East, but I don't think it would help them either. The trade does a great deal for the Knicks but not a whole lot for the Hornets.

Oh, I'm also pretty sure Shandon Anderson would start over Lynch because of the size already in that projected Knick front court.

All good points. I think this will help our chemistry by gettin rid of George Lynch who does not want to be here, we get rid of Elden Campbell with his below average work ethic. Our only BIG loss would be David Wesley.

I'd love a backcourt of Baron Davis/Latrell Spreewell it would be the best in the league. Elden Campbell is preventing Jamaal Magloire from getting minutes which he deserves, and Kurt Thomas would be our Startin PF next year if we arent able to resign Brown or Brown wants to be a backup.

So I'm in Favor of this trade.

I think Wesley has more to contribute to this team than Sprewell does. Wesley will be a specialist off the bench this year. He can play the one and the two. Although Spree can play the two and the three, Mashburn does not sit much when he is healthy. I like the Davis/Alexander/Wesley backcourt a little better than the Davis/Sprewell/Williams backcourt overall. Besides, this trade couldn't go down until midseason since Williams has already been signed after just having been drafted. By then, the minor chemistry concerns that George Lynch presents will have already been ironed out.

Also, I think PJ Brown is a more consistant force in this league than is Kurt Thomas. We have to resign PJ because he is the glue of the organization. If he wants to play off the bench, what's wrong with this line-up?

PG Baron Davis
SG Courtney Alexander
SF Jamal Mashburn
PF Elden Campbell
C Jamaal Magliore
---------------------------
David Wesley
PJ Brown
George Lynch
Lee Nailon (if we pry him from Seattle's clutches)
Stacey Augmon

I think the trade is a wash for the Hornets; so why do it?

I'll start from the top. Spreewell being a big guard with a ton of talent would be a HUGE improvement over Wesley. Just go look at their stats breackdown. A backcourt of Baron Davis and Latrell Spreewell would be the best in the league and pretty unstoppable! A backcourt of Baron Davis/Frank Williams/Latrell Sprewell/Courtney Alexander is a whole lot better than Baron Davis/Bryce Drew/David Wesley/Courtney Alexander.

The thing about Williams is better because we can see how our team is doing and what problems we are having.

The thing about next years starting lineup is that I would hope that Campbell is still not startin. The future of Kurt Thomas/Jamal Magloire would be a big, young, tough tought front court.

This trade allows us to get some youth while maintain competitive.

Starting Lineup up this year
PG Baron Davis/Frank Williams
SG Latrell Sprewell/Courtney Alexander/Stacey Augmon
SF Jamal Mashburn/Lee Nailon
PF PJ Brown/Kurt Thomas/Robert Traylor
C Jamaal Magloire/Kurt Thomas/Robert Traylor

Next year projected starting lineup:
PG Baron Davis/Frank Williams
SG Latrell Spreewell/Courtney Alexander/Stacey Augmon
SF Jamal Mashburn/Lee Nailon
PF Kurt Thomas/PJ Brown/Robert Traylor
C Jamaal Magloire/Elden Campbell

Or we COULD let Campbell and Brown walk in hope of a big time free agent.

This trade also opens up space to re-sign Nailon, and possibly use our 4.5 MLE on some decent talen.

You bring up some accurate points, but I want to go see atleast 20 Hornets games this year, and I would not pay to watch Sprewell of Kurt Thomas. That's just a personal thing.

I think i'd pay more to see a game with Spree and Thomas. You never know who might Spree get into a fight with.
