Will Marbury make the All-Star team?
Quote:
Philadelphia's Allen Iverson and Cleveland's LeBron James are expected to start at guard, with Shaquille O'Neal, Grant Hill and Vince Carter along the front line.
The East is guard-heavy. Besides Hamilton and Billups on the outside looking in, there's New Jersey's Jason Kidd, New York's Stephon Marbury, Orlando's Steve Francis, Milwaukee's Michael Redd, Washington's Gilbert Arenas and Larry Hughes, and Dwyane Wade of Miami. That group doesn't even include Boston's Gary Payton, Paul Pierce, or Chicago's Kirk Hinrich.

Sometimes voters vote for players as a reward for having a great last season, and they also tend to avoid putting in players on the lower ranked teams. With that said does Marbury make this year's All-Star team?

Wow, I'm shocked by the voting.
Only two guards made the reserve. Wade, and Arenas. Ilguaskas made it over Francis and Kidd. How the hell did that happen? I guess they figured they needed more size since the starters have two SFs. Even still... it's just a weird choice. Everything else I'll agree with.
Btw, Marbury and Nash had similar career resume's previous to this season.
Marbury: 2 time all-star, 2 time all-nba 3rd team
Nash: 2 time all-star, 2 time all-nba 3rd team
Now it's going to be...
Marbury: 2 time all-star, 2 time all-nba 3rd team
Nash: 3 time all-star, 1 time all-nba 1st team, 2 time all-nba 3rd team
Kobe, Nash, Allen, Arenas, and Wade pretty much have the all-nba teams locked up. T-Mac, Lebron, and Pierce all have seen more time at SF but it will be interesting to see if they're categorized as guards come voting time. Needless to say, with Redd, Hamilton, and Francis also vying for that final 6th guard spot, I doubt Marbury gets a whiff of an all-NBA team for a long time, if ever again in the rest of his career.

He should point the finger back at himself. I'm sure his little boast was in the back of the minds of alot of coaches when they were picking, and they were asking is he playing like the best PG in the league... no, so...
