Trade 'devastates' Davis
http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/ba...p-301227c.html
Quote:
CHARLESTON, S.C. - Antonio Davis returned to Chicago yesterday for a family matter and Isiah Thomas and Larry Brown have differing opinions on whether Davis should return.
Davis, the veteran power forward included in the Eddy Curry deal, has told Brown, his former coach with the Indiana Pacers, that he would prefer to remain with the Bulls. Brown empathizes with Davis, saying yesterday that Davis was "devastated" by the trade.
"I don't want to stand in the way if he doesn't feel comfortable," Brown said. "I'd be disappointed (if he left) but you don't want someone who doesn't want to be here."
Thomas, however, was more realistic: "He really has no choice," the Knicks' president said of Davis. "This isn't charity."
Davis, 37, is in the final year of his contract and will earn approximately $13 million.
|
Quote:
HOBBLED: Stephon Marbury joined Jerome James and Quentin Richardson on the growing list of players suffering from strained hamstrings."Hopefully it's nothing serious," Brown said. "But for the most part I think our guys are in good shape."
DRESSED DOWN: It's clear by the way Brown talks and dresses during practice that this is now his team. Unlike last season, when Thomas imposed a dress code for all his coaches, Brown wears his now familiar black sweats and black long-sleeve T-shirt, the same outfit he wore while coaching school-age summer campers in East Hampton.

I'm still not very concerned about Davis , at the worst the knicks will get a buyout at a good discount or they will trade him, get a player and let the next team work a buyout for him .
i would hope for everyone's sake this is worked out fine....although it looks like brown and IT are playing good cop bad cop with him.

I think the Knicks public stance is a bull**** distraction---they will release him and he'll be re-sighned by Chi

They can't do this any other way; they make it public both of our teams are gonna get punished.
This way it looks like AD has beef with IT and that's why he gets dropped.

Re: Trade 'devastates' Davis
I really will lose all my respect for Zeke if that is what happens. Because I always thought Zeke was a real man who was not afraid to show his emotion and is not gonna front on anything. If he goes through with all this drama and AD just gets cut and goes back to Chicago it definetly taints some of the respect I have for Isiah

Re: Trade 'devastates' Davis
The Knicks should just hold on to him and force the retirement.

Re: Trade 'devastates' Davis
Wouldn't that be underhanded though?? I mean would that not cause GM's to think twice next time before trading with us? Or Free Agents to think twice before signing with us? We certainly do not want that.

Re: Trade 'devastates' Davis
I dont think we should force him to retire. Its probably cheaper though, but he is fit and still has game left in him.

Re: Trade 'devastates' Davis
If you cut him, he goes right back to Chicago and helps them. If you keep them he can either play or retire but if he retires he loses his post at the NBAPA. I don't think he would acutally give up all of that just to prove a point.
